Summer Transfer Window

Reported in January that Luton made 3 bids for Kone, last one over £6m, and all turned down
Think a PL loan more likely

I absolutely like the idea of Kone, looks a goalscorer from what I have seen on TV and impressed with him down here in his appearance against us.

Having difficulties putting the whole thing together. We clearly can't afford him but yet we believe we are able to broker a deal for him....I also feel that defensively(sorry to mention it again) is an area that needs more attention.

People complaining about the idea we need to buy to sell should take a look at the Swiss Ramble thread on our latest accounts which Darran has posted.

Just like most Championship clubs, we are losing money hand over fist and are reliant on the owners pumping money in regularly to cover our losses. Add to that the lack of big money sales, plenty of dud purchases we have to sell for less than we paid for them, having to pay off 2 sacked managers in the last 2 seasons, no cup runs to boost revenue, is it really surprising that we don't have much money to spend?

Innit.

The club has at least one striker that they want to get off the books if they can before adding another. If reports are to be believed we've committed the best part of £10m on players this window already (£5m Inoussa, £3m Widell, £300k Wales, plus Burgess will have had a big signing on fee), but apparently that's not enough for some people and it's all going a bit disappointing.

That's the thing, we are burdened with a financial restriction but yet 6M has been highlighted on Inoussa, an area of the pitch we were not desperate to strengthen and could have used that money to strengthen other areas....I state AREAS.

Anyone that buys a football club , particularly one in the championship, surely knows that it's highly unlikely you are going to make a profit, unless obviously, you get promoted to the promised land. If you don't want to lose a wad of cash don't get involved. It's as simple as that.

Once again, at the risk of sounding repetitive, we did not pay £5m or €6m for Inoussa.

Look, if you don’t believe me, this is what Keith’s site had to say about the fee:

“The reports on his fee are as far off as we have seen in recent times. Five million euros he is not. The actual fee is a matter for the club to disclose of at any time they choose to do so but non disclosure of fees is a regular thing these days.”

Why people think we’d pay £5m for a player that’s not worth anything like that is beyond me.

Now if you add up all possible clauses, including promotion to the premier league, then maybe we approach that over the 5 year deal, but we that is a completely different matter.

To - Kone is a far better fit for our business model than McBurnie.

It doesn't really matter how much we spend, it's where we spend it that's important.

Just over a week until the big kick off and we've still got gaping holes in the squad.

The main point is - we were told this window was going to be different under the new owners. It's not. Not so far anyway.

We spent much of June being told how wonderful it was that we were doing things differently and being pro active in the market. Now apparently it's just the same as before. I wish people would make their minds up.

The truth is that lots of football fans are mostly only happy when their teams are spending money. If they're not they'll find something to moan about.

I don't doubt we paid a small outlet for Inoussa, I believe it the case aswell, I was just replying to Dr W.
The fee could initially rise to the value of 6M or in and around and will be spread out with likely clauses as suggested in your post.
We could have broken these fees down including initial fees on more than one player.
