Summer Transfer Window

Been 3 weeks since the pre season squad was announced you could see then the squad is very thin we are now less than 2 weeks away from the season starting and there’s been no improvement I think early optimism starting to ware off for a few thing that I don’t understand is if Watson was still here and this was our current window fans would be completely different
The new group are getting a lot of goodwill from fans, rightly so, as they were very proactive in going about our early business - Burgess was an incredible pick up.
But as you say, enthusiasm is starting to wane as we now appear to be struggling to fill the obvious gaps remaining due to not being able to shift on a few outgoing players.
Still time but no one wants a last minute scramble again.

Don’t get the we need to sell part for the last 4/5 windows we’ve had more players leave than come in we’ve lost all of our highest earners it’s not sustainable as we can see we are now left with a thread bare 11 with no quality of depth montague states he wants to be stronger in the window not weaker as it stands as a squad we are considerably weaker and Sheehan will end up being the fall guy from being let down by the people at the top.

Problem is, we haven’t really made any massive sales recently. For a club whose model is supposedly to buy low and sell high, the only “big” sales we’ve made in the last few seasons have been Downes and Piroe. We need to really focus on producing assets and selling them on so we can improve the squad.

This is the most confident I've been in the club for a number of years. It's been a LONG time since we had such a busy (inwards lol) start to a transfer window. Not to mention some really customer-focused kits this year, and the whole Snoop Dogg thing. And, the club have kept almost everything under wraps - impressive stuff really.

So, it might be a bit premature, but I do have a bit more confidence that something is going on behind the scenes, we just don't know about it.

Just hope I don't have to eat my hat in a few weeks.

In recent seasons we have also lost a shedfull of season ticket purchasers and a look back at attendances on tv last season if it wasn't for the fact that season ticket holder numbers are automatically included in the match attendances, in reality our real attendance would have been around 8000.

To be fair to our new owners they have gone about their business quietly and achieved new signings early and to be fair to them we were warned that unless players were moved on there would be very little recruits.

The Watson legacy still lingers at the club, throw in 3/4 injuries and the squad looks quite bare and while speculation about new recruits especially Ollie have reached tidal wave expectation, this is where we are, a club with very little spare cash that in all honesty we will do well to just stay in the Championship every year.

The true publicity and financial implications around the investment of Modric, Scooby Do and other new investors won't happen overnight and until then our hopes rest on players returning from injury, the likes of Yates etc., moving on and hopefully recruiting 2/3 players before the window closes at the end of August.

Not too concerned about no news at the moment and based on the last few months the owners are delivering and looking to rebuild with 20 players across the squads leaving this summer.

However, if no cover is brought in for Key areas and if the owners and Sheehan think we are in a good place striker wise then we wait for the inevitable train crash and panic.

Let's see what develops over the next 4 weeks.

The reason for lack of ‘bums on seats’ is purely down to the lack of ambition on and off the pitch I also understand we may be waiting for things to fall into place but the thing that worries me is there’s isn’t a chance mcburnie would of been our first second or third choice as he has been available for the best part of a month and a bit the fact we’ve gone to revisit it and still have come up short is alarming

Problem with working so quietly is that it can show as not working at all. We've been waiting a solid two weeks for players now, and haven't heard a sniff outside of the McBurnie saga.

it's a very efficient way to make a rod for your own back
Exactly this I’ve seen this script with this club to many times before and we all know how it’s ended in the past…I’ve seen people say playoffs is a genuine shout looking at the teams and the way they’ve done there business honestly with this current squad and it’s lack of options I think we be lucky to not be joining them lot next year which would be a massive shame considering how close our team is to being competitive

People were going to gradually fall off after relegation from the Prem, as time went on then excuses would be made and arguably those excuses were made easy for people.
I don't get how people can just walk away from a club because they were bored with the football....it's frankly pathetic for me.
If you support a club, you do so through the good and bad times.

Completely agree with this on a personal level couldn’t do it but for your average football fan you got to be excited to show up ambition would create a buzz as showed early doors this window but I’ll never understand my self especially given a lot of the fan base has watched in league 2/1/champ and prem seems a bit strange to just give up on it

Unfortunately a lot of matches over the past few seasons have been shocking. That is not going to appeal to a kid between 7 and 13 when there are so many other things he could be doing with his time, and so much other football on the box to watch. Let's be honest, this club has been stagnating for years, and it really is only the diehards who would turn up to watch Fulton and Grimes playing keep ball for 90 minutes on a freezing cold and wet winter night. It hasn't been much fun for years and that isn't going to get people turning up for games.

Bored of the McBurnie hullabaloo now, past caring a long time ago.
I seriously doubt we were ever in for him now. It was that Alan Nixon post that started a wave of rumours and people online just kept it going. The fact that there has been no word on transfers for a while has made people rabid for any scrap of info.
