• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Obviously not. I’m struggling with how this is apparently the biggest news story in the uk today.

Bonkers isn’t it. That’s all I’ve heard today is that should get severe jail time. If they do and that is the road we are going down, then the current sentencing guidelines need to be ripped up and start again.

Given that its criminal damage. The tree was over 200 years old, and worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. They can expect upto 10 years imprisonment.

Which is absolutely mental. And how can a tree have such a monetary value? Who’s lost that hundreds of thousands of pounds? I absolutely get that it’s criminal damage. The twats that did it are, well, twats who should be punished. But sending them to jail for any length of time would be a perfect illustration of why our jails are so full we’re either having to let actual societal dangers out early or not sending them there in the first place.

I only mentioned the value, as it's been mentioned several times ( I guess if you walked into Dobbies and wanted a 200 year old sessile oak that's what youd expect to pay). For many worldwide by the way, monetary value doent even come into it, for many it's a spiritual place, with spiritual meaning, (bollox maybe) which I suppose many wouldnt understand. Anyway, I completely concur that a sentance of upto 10 years is a bit mad given that some crimes, often against people, dont carry such a hefty sentance. I do however believe some sort of custodial sentance is appropriate in such a high profile case. I would also agree that a complete overhaul of the judicial system is more than overdue.

We’re mostly violently agreeing apart from the custodial sentence bit. But that’s fine.

Why didn’t they just leaf the tree alone.

Chainsaw is the root of all evil as the bible says
