• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Should they be jailed for significant time?
Nope. I don’t think jail will help them in the slightest. In case like this we should be able to have them serving significant community service. And that’s not me thinking this isn’t a significant crime - it’s awful what they did. It’s no good trying to put a value on it, that’s 200+ years of life they killed. We’ll never get that back (unlike some financial crimes which are effectively a paper exercise).

Which would be my punishment. A huge number of hours community service which would take them years to complete. Tag them so they’re on a curfew for a long time. I don’t know if they are working, if they are, take a portion of their wages straight out of their pay.

Whatever they have I’ll never understand the mentality of some people.
Why the fuck they did this is baffling.
Doubt anyone will disagree with what you are saying. Which is very unusual 🤣

On the day that this happened I would have agreed with Pegojack because I hiked past it when walking along the Wall and it was one of the highlights but ECB has (slightly) changed my mind. This was extreme vandalism but it wasn't malicious because they are idiots. Being thick isn't an excuse, but five years in prison is too harsh on them and their families. Five years picking up litter would be OK with me.

Yew woodnt believe it but there were tree people involved they found the third person riding his chopper in Barking heading for Boreham Wood.

Police have given the case code name operation Yew tree

A short custodial sentence followed by a significant stretch of community service would be the appropriate measure here. Putting these idiots away for years at our expense is a step in the wrong direction. We are already letting more dangerous criminals out early due to overcrowding situations.

I think most right minded folk would agree this was a stupid act of vandalism that has offended people far and wide. To NOT make an example of them is tantamount to saying to others "ok pal, crack on and wreck what you want". Stupidity is not an excuse.

Wouldn't a long stretch of very visible community service do this better than sticking them in a prison, where most people would have forgotten about them after a few months?

Perhaps they could be assigned to spend a long time helping with the wall and the replacement tree that has been planted, alongside other community service work?
