Sycamore Gap Morons

Should they be jailed for significant time?
Nope. I don’t think jail will help them in the slightest. In case like this we should be able to have them serving significant community service. And that’s not me thinking this isn’t a significant crime - it’s awful what they did. It’s no good trying to put a value on it, that’s 200+ years of life they killed. We’ll never get that back (unlike some financial crimes which are effectively a paper exercise).

Which would be my punishment. A huge number of hours community service which would take them years to complete. Tag them so they’re on a curfew for a long time. I don’t know if they are working, if they are, take a portion of their wages straight out of their pay.

We should be making much wider use of community sentencing for criminals. If prisons worked we’d be closing them not ramming people in to them.

On the day that this happened I would have agreed with Pegojack because I hiked past it when walking along the Wall and it was one of the highlights but ECB has (slightly) changed my mind. This was extreme vandalism but it wasn't malicious because they are idiots. Being thick isn't an excuse, but five years in prison is too harsh on them and their families. Five years picking up litter would be OK with me.

Yew woodnt believe it but there were tree people involved they found the third person riding his chopper in Barking heading for Boreham Wood.

Police have given the case code name operation Yew tree
