• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Wouldn't a long stretch of very visible community service do this better than sticking them in a prison, where most people would have forgotten about them after a few months?

Perhaps they could be assigned to spend a long time helping with the wall and the replacement tree that has been planted, alongside other community service work?
I do agree with you here.

However, I recall watching a drama a year or so back starring Sean Bean who played a bloke imprisoned for a serious motoring offence. If real prison life was anything like it was portrayed then that should be enough to deter anyone from finding themselves there. My point being, if we want to promote a society where the majority can go about their business without the fear of being assaulted or have their car nicked or house burgled then we must have punishments severe enough to act as a deterrent; otherwise we risk a descent into anarchy.

And if we fill prisons with people who are peacefully protesting or cutting trees down, there will be no room for those that commit violent assaults, house burglars etc.

They should be made to empty then clean the portable bogs after Glastonbury for the next 5 years. Or scrape pigeon shit off public buildings. That's what offenders like this should be doing. Not jail time.

Now that my initial anger has cooled down, I tend to agree with you, plus they should suffer a financial penalty.

Do you need to empty the portable bogs at Glastonbury these days then?
You never had to when I used to go they just filled the hole back in with the huge tump of earth next to the bogs that they’d dug out to make the bogs in the first place.

Serious question.

No idea, but I would assume that with H&S rules these days the portaloos must be dealt with a bit more hygienically than that 😄

You’re on about the long drops 💩😷🤢 doubt they do them anymore. Saying that, the portaloos there are fucking vile as well.

Agreed, and I'm not suggesting these particular idiots should serve jail time, just that punishment should be severe and visible

Yep. And clearing fat-burgs in the sewers. Get them doing all the crap jobs. (Pun intended)

I’m quite surprised some of you mention community service! These absolute goons, knew exactly what they were doing, to fell a tree of absolute beauty, is totally repulsive. And they need the maximum sentence.

This is not some student prank, to travel that far, and pre planned.

For me, the maximum sentence is appropriate.

Not like you to swim against the tide 😅

Hmm. On this occasion, I don’t really think I am swimming against the tide. It’s totally abhorrent what they have done.

These goons are not some drunken student types, which could maybe explained by being actual drunk. Oh no they drove miles, actually sober to do the deed.

How old is the main offender 40 plus? Chuck away the key. I wouldn’t mind five minutes with the gits.

Nobody thinks what they’ve done isn’t abhorrent, a pair of absolute shitheads. But, you don’t send someone to an already overcrowded prison for donkeys years for it, give them a record community service order, tag them and fine them.

You bashing them up would make you worse than them mun. Assault is a far worse crime than cutting down a tree, come on now.
