There is no way that the FA will keep him on while a court case is resolved, its a different thing entirely to being on bail.

Innocent until proven guilty, of course.
But I do dislike the man and am sure that we can do better.

If he elects or is sent to the Crown Court and pleads not guilty, he’ll be looking at March next year at the earliest for a trial.

That’s where mine who are not in custody and are relatively short (less than a week) are being listed.

I'm not a legal expert so cannot say for sure, but I would expect a suspended sentence unless a judge decides they want to make an example of him as someone powerful and famous (by British celebrity standards).

I was surprised that given his "colourful" relationship history that Giggs was given the Wales job, now though if he gets found found guilty surely no one in football will go near him.

Re sentence ? It’s impossible to say without knowing the facts. The common attracts a maximum of 6 months, that can only normally be tried in the Magistrates unless there’s a connection with the offence that has been sent to the Crown Court. ABH has a max of 5 years but that’s very rare.

He’s also been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour which will be an aggravating feature of the assault on her, this has a max of 5 years.

Prob is all of those have a wide range, and differ on many levels eg, was a weapon used, was it prolonged, did he use a foot ?
The report said she was treated for minor injuries so sounds like a low level ABH.

There’ll be an application for all allegations to be tried at the same time.

If he were to receive a sentence under two years, he may be eligible for a suspended sentence if the judge believes there is potential for rehabilitation. The fact that he’s a footballer will have no bearing at all on whether or not he’d get a suspended sentence.

I’d imagine someone like him would hire a QC, that doesn’t always help in cases like this. It seems a straightforward case, bread and butter for the run of the mill jobsbers like me.

I am just glad that we didn’t go near Giggs. As bad as the football has been I would rather Cooperball than for our club to be represented by someone of Giggs’s more than dubious moral character
