The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

He has agreed to talks but is under contract. A Professional sports club with staff on contracts so that they get paid and do not up and leave for a better offer. I suppose Alan left and received a pay off as compensation for wages lost under his contract. Big cloob Wigan effect.

I said back then and stick by my view that Sheehan blew it when he decided to have Stamenic play like Grimes. Except Stamenic is slow, ponderous and if it wasnt for his physicality would have lost the ball numerous times between the back 2 and let players in on goal.

I thought we were getting a midfield 3 of Ethan, Franco and Widdell.
Instead we got a ponderous Stamenic and the same Grimesque stlye in the middle or just in front of 2 center halves. Granted Widdel may not be ready for this level but we have Yalcouye too

I hope the new manager dumps Stamenic to the bench with Fulton and is only used to close out games
I agreed with first part in relation to the Grimes role. But I don't think he is in any way to be in the same category as Fulton. I think there is something special to come from him. He has been doing well on international duties and plays more higher up. This showed when he passed to VP for that goal few games back. In my view like most of the players it's poor coaching.

Don't all come at me at once and yes I am taking this from Indy and what has been reported. But this €1 Mill fee is just rumours and its been reported we will be paying around £300k. In order for it to hit €1 Mill he pretty much would need need to get us promoted. Calm down everyone.

I’m calm. It’s not my money. They can do what they like.

If we've paid the release clause, why is it being reported he will still be in charge of Maritimo's match on Sunday? Am I missing something here?
Who knows. Think it's termination not release. And I am not gonna go into the difference lol. But I don't imagine a builder who is contracted to do a job suddenly down tools and let's go of the wall he is holding up to just walk out when someone calls. He probelry will see them out for last time or it will be announced tomorrow. And he doesn't do the game. It won't change anything. It might be the case also that an agreement is in place that he does this. Who knows.

Dare I say it. I started this thread and love the interaction. But it might be full moon tonight. I never think or will ever say I know things more than others. But it's tiring that everyone is getting their knickers in a twist about a report of €1 Mill clause that is false, if people did their research. Whatever the fee is, whatever the decision is, Vitor will be announced soon and we all get behind him. That's what matters not random figures and all that crap 😂😂 Friday night rant 😅

‘Think it's termination not release. And I am not gonna go into the difference lol’.

There isn’t one. At least not in terms of its effect on what the club will pay.

The only differences are technicalities about who the contracting parties are and how the money flows and associated tax implications. Release clause is just a name given to a particular type of deal where a certain fee guarantees a player/ manager can speak to another club. There’s also a buy out clause where a player / manager will be able to release themselves from a contract (money comes from buying club via player or manager to selling club - there have been tax cases about that type of arrangement). And a termination clause is the same pretty much as a buy out clause but although the contract is between the player or manager and selling club, the buying club pays it direct.

Same transfer of money though. And a somewhat pedantic argument.

It’s possible that the maximum payable will be a million euros, but that it is dependent on performance so minimum amount is lower (possibly the 300k you’ve mentioned). Swans sources will quote minimum figure, their sources will quote maximum.

If we’ve decided we want him, it is what it is.

I think it’s a massive risk (irrespective of how it ends up that doesn’t change), but if he’s coming I will give him my full support.
