I’ve seen multiple times this season now in games we’ve won, lost and drawn, opposition fans calling us boring. Granted sometimes we do tend to pass with no purpose, first half tonight was probably as dull as I’ve seen all season, but are we really THAT boring to watch? Or is it boring for them because they’re not the team with 70 odd percent possession? Personally, I’ve not enjoyed watching us this much for a few years now, certainly including the last 2-3 years in the prem.

Been on the Barnsley forum and they seem to think that we are the most boring side they have ever seen...

More than one way to skin a cat

Too many people think that the way to play football is kick and rush and speed around the pitch like lunatics

SOme of our passing last night was sublime to watch and the best part was we retained a belief that we would get the opportunity to score and we did. There would be a different reaction I have no doubt had we lost 1-0 or even just drawn 0-0 but if Barnsley fans want to believe that is boring then that is up to them

We had the same thing under Rodgers.

It wasn't truly effective last night until Ntcham came on, but the building blocks are there. Most people understand that we're still a bit of a work in progress. Bring in a couple of smart attacking options in January and the sky is the limit.

If some team game to the Liberty and had 80% of the ball whilst doing nothing with it we’d have no problem calling them boring. Personally, being as it’s us doing it to them, I don’t care and I quite enjoy it.

For people who think our passing is just sideways and backwards with no purpose:

Swansea City's Championship rank for:

Forward passes - First

Successful passes into the attacking third - First

Successful passes into the opposition half - First

Passes, dribbles and carries into final third over 90 minutes - First

For fan of a team who sat in two banks of four hoping to stifle us then i think it is a bit of a cheek, we kept the ball they ran around a lot by 65 minutes they tired, gaps appeared and we scored, if they had been a bit more positive then they would have seen more of an attacking display from us.

Like under Rodger’s and Martinez some teams will set themselves up for a point or to hit us on transition but the accuracy of passing and fitness of the Swansea players does make that harder and harder for the opposition. I hope it continues, it did make a difference when subs come on and then run directly at the gaps as well.😉

However ‘boring’ we can be at times, we are still infinitely more entertaining than anything served up under Cooper.

I’m actually amazed at how quickly RM has changed our style so drastically (with a fair bit of success).

Some of our passing and play this season has been superb to watch. If that means I have to put up with 20 mins of ‘no purpose’ possession then so be it.

Indeed. If they didn’t want us to have the ball they could have a) tried to take it off us or b) stop giving it straight back to us when they got it.

I didn't find yesterday boring in the slightest, we are missing a bit of a spark in final third, but to go away from home and dominate like that is an achievement in itself.

If we can stay in and around the play offs by the time January comes around I'll start to get excited. Another transfer window and I'm sure Martin has a few players in mind already.

I think we went there expecting the new manager to instill some energy and pressing into them but in the first half it never came.
They pushed up a bit in the second half which made it easier for us to play through them once we were accustomed to it.

Keeping the ball is also a massive part of how we defend. Instead of sitting with two banks of 4 like most teams we just dont give them the ball.

They played us 4 times last season, yet deem this season's team to be boring. Not the most astute fans are they?

Myself and my son were waxing lyrical right through the game last night. As you say, some of the one touch passing, triangles etc. were a joy to watch, for us anyway. Grimes epitomised it - again - 82% possession in the first half. We ground them down, tired them out and took a little more risk in the 2nd half (when it was time to do so imo), and some pertinent and effective substitutions paid dividends. It's still a work in progress but the improved fitness and enjoyment in the players is plain to see.

I did feel sorry for their fans (almost). Imagine watching your club only having the ball 20% of the time, chasing shadows and conceding 2 classy goals, at home on a cold evening. If this is boring, give me boring all day long!

They weren't giving it back to us though. Each time we lost it, we harassed them immediately and got it back within about 5 seconds. That's the thing when you play teams like us - there is huge pressure when you regain possession because you know if/when you lose it you're not going to see it for yonks again.

The games last season against Barnsley were all awful to watch, the only upside were the results.
We were toothless in the first half last night granted.
We need better alternatives to Ntcham, Korey Smith is not the answer but we all know that.
The Stoke fans always used to call Brenda's Swans side boring - they had Pulis at the time & eventually their fans turned against him because of the awful football...
I know which I'd prefer.
