The writer of this opinion article about us seems to have got things pretty spot on from an outsiders perspective of the state of our club... if we keep doing things as we are, we’re going to struggle eventually.

"Also concerning is Swansea’s increasingly reliance on loan players. The likes of Freddie Woodman and Marc Guehi will leave huge voids once they depart and so too Conor Hourihane"

Freddie Woodman, many don't rate. We do need a better keeper, Woodman is not the answer so not the loss they make out.
Conor Hourihane, dead ball only, not so hot elsewhere, pity its not American Football where he could come on and off for free kicks.
Marc Guehi, will be a loss but we have players coming through.

"Swansea City’s transfer profits from the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons total close to £50million, yet Cooper’s record signing is the £800k capture of Lowe from cash-strapped Wigan Athletic last summer."

He doesn't take into account fees and salaries. Ayew's wage killed our chances of benefitting from the Premier League Money. The first year down we had other big salaries too.

The author is suggesting spend spend spend what we haven't got.

You may think he's right, I think he's wrong.

The article is mostly bollocks tbh.

It's like a Sky pundit saying we're a good possession outfit after watching us 1 in 10 games etc.

Woodman - we can do better
Hourihane - been largely absent except for the first 3/4 games
Owners lacking ambition - which is clearly untrue

Sky pundits tend to do more research.

Rumours of the players don't want to go up, the ridiculous number of loans, no investment highlight our problems.
"Lack of ambition".

I think that there is much that the owners need to take responsibility for, but in light of some of the eye watering losses posted by other Championship clubs I certainly don't blame them for utilising the loan market, especially when we are hamstrung by Ayews wages which are enough to cover the wages of three or even four new players and still have plenty of change to spare.

Lack of ambition? More like not out of touch with reality

Spending millions on transfer fees to build a complete squad would be suicidal IMHO, whether we achieve promotion or not. We will have to combine the current core squad members with loanees and a smattering of youngsters (I think the likes of Cullen and Cooper have gone well when given the chance). If we reach the PL (promised land !) then sign a few decent players that will be prepared to stay when we probably get relegated so that we can go again and with some cash in the bank.

Whether Cooper is the man to take us forward is the bigger question for me !!
