• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

When we get independence do you still want the Swans in the English leagues?
I will answer your nonsense question just this once, but if that was the choice I’d choose independence everyday of the fucking week over football.

Not that it would ever happen of course.

Well it’s not nonsense when so many people want independence on their terms. (That’s not aimed at you reply)

You’ve got the Swans Fans for Independence on X and I’ve never heard such bollox in years.
Oh and I’m not for or against independence and that’s because I can’t see into the future.

It’s astonishing what people will justify in their own heads as true these days. Previously sensible people are now even defending noncery on Twitter where the AI tool has been creating sexualised images of children because in their own heads any move to regulate that is just Starmer being a commie or something. Defending that just to stick it to the lefties. Twisted.
It’s almost like post war Germany when they rightly had a period of de-nazification as the population was so brainwashed at the time.

It’s like we need a truth and reconciliation period to remove the poison.

Again this would be much easier in a different time but we now have the musks of the world.

The world is in peril but so many are living in denial.

I’ve tried not to comment on the independence stuff as it’s likely to derail the thread.

All I’ll say is that goes against precisely the issues we’re discussing. Further retrenchment to borders, further splintering. Imagine Cardiff bay standing up to trump - I mean give your head a wobble.

If the UK broke apart again there would be parties galore in Moscow.

Wales would overnight go into poverty but that is besides the point. We have much much bigger issues at play here. We need to come together both politically and militarily.

That’s why the Brexit vote was beyond stupid both at the time and even more so subsequently.

Let’s just keep accepting the scraps from the English elites table and be grateful for every last crumb we get.

Please Sir, can I have more?
MORE! MORE BOY!

We are not even an afterthought in their minds, and anyone that thinks we are needs to give their overinflated bonce a mahoosive wobble.

They have conditioned us to think that we could never last without them, but thankfully more and more are not accepting that anymore.

They said it would be different when Labour took the keys to number 10.

Has anything really changed?

Nothing will change mate, they can promise us the world but it’ll never change.

Not much will change (if anything) when Plaid get in later this year, but at least they will hold the ruling party feet to the fire. That’ll be a start.

Absolutely, change is desperately needed in Wales.

As long as Westminster holds the overall purse strings, and we have, as I understand the formula, by far the worst constituent UK funding settlement, whoever gets in in pissing in the wind. Plaid is the only party that actually cares about Wales, so imo any other vote is, like brexshit, a self inflicted mortal wound.

Let’s just say our funding is “unfair” that is in the context of the Barnett formula.

If we were independent all of the revenue for spending would need to be generated ourselves. No more city of London.

We would be in a huge deficit. I can’t believe people believe we’d magically be okay.

If your position is one of collective more egalitarian poverty across the board then yes that might have some coherence.

Personally I’d prefer prosperity to that.

Wales already has tax raising powers. Funnily enough we don’t use them though.

Imagine Farage gets into power, we somehow get a third referendum and rejoin the EU on his watch. Lol.

I'm not advocating independence. I'm advocating a party that would spend what we get in the interests of Wales and argue the case for a fairer model, not one tied to an English parliament that has caused the inequity in the funding model as all the others are.

I’m with you sorry for the misunderstanding.

That does make some sense. I think Plaid will be a better option than Labour in the sense you’d like to think they’ll be more Wales as a whole than the poverty stricken bits of the valleys and Cardiff. With everyone else just putting up with shit.

But I won’t vote for them, they’ve propped up Labour several times and for that I can’t justify a vote. I’ll probably walk up and spoil my ballot. But to reiterate I completely get your thinking.
