Anyway. As we end another season we can surely all agree getting to a play off final is an achievement. Ok, it was a disappointing end but next season we go again in the league which is probably the most fun. A season in the premier league, which is probably all it would have been, isn’t much fun when you are getting thrashed most weeks, and we don’t, at the moment, really have the base to build for any sort of continued success.
We have a good crop of young players who hopefully will start to form that new base starting next season and I’m sure we all hope that we can again find our style and get to a point where going up won’t be a one season wonder.
Most of all, after the year everyone has had, those of us who are still here and have not lost family to this horrific disease should thank our lucky stars that we will, soon enough, be back in the stadium, watching the games in person and remembering those that have not been so fortunate. I’m sure it’s most of us that have felt a sense of real loss every week, when the shirts have been laid over the seats of those that will not have the chance to go back next year, scream, shout, feel elation and moan when the next team lucky enough to represent us take to the pitch.
As ever, I can’t wait to see what the summer brings - a new manager in all likelihood, new players, a new shirt (please can we have white shorts again - we’re not Derby), and fingers crossed for a new style. However poor some think we are, we’re nowhere near as bad as we have been for most of the years I’ve been watching us.
Onwards and upwards.
