Freedom of speech is acceptable up to the point at which it breaks the law. Who or what you support is largely irrelevant.

Whether Bob Vylan have broken the law is not yet clear, only the investigation can conclude this.

What they said is recorded and easily available. There are plenty of legal experts available to the police who can probably answer the question of whether they broke the law very quickly. The investigation is the result of political pressure, the statement from the police in the linked article in this thread makes that clear.

Genuine question...

Nobody mentions Hamas in any dialogue.. its IDF committing genocide and Palestinians suffering from and under a extremist regime ( allegedly)

Sensible balanced responses only .. help me understand

Called for the death of people and asked people to riot.

The riot thing was Kneecap and the same member of the group walked it back pretty quickly I believe.

Calling for the death of soldiers killing civilians. Would you want someone prosecuted calling for Russian soldiers in Ukraine to die? If you lived in the 1940's, would you consider it acceptable to call for Wehrmacht soldiers to die?

Hamas are a terrorist organisation and what they did in Israel to precipitate the current conflict (and what they've done in the past) was vile. I celebrate that organisation being wiped out. Oops, perhaps I'll be investigated for wishing death on people...

Israel showed that they are perfectly capable of dealing with Hamas without the mass killing of Palestinian civilians. The mobile phone thing they did was a great example of all the methods available to them. No reasonable person can look at what they're doing in Palestine now and truly believe this is about destroying Hamas. It's now about destroying Palestine for good.

Both things are true. Hamas have committed unspeakable atrocities. Everyone condemns them. Israel is currently committing unspeakable atrocities to an entire population. The world mostly turns a blind eye.

Nobody should die.

I would not agree with all of that. Bob Vylan appear to have made a dogs dinner of the point that they were attempting to put over. Their language has softened somewhat since then, as did Kneecap after they called for the killing of MP’s. As others have found out, you can’t delete history. When it goes badly, badly wrong we have a David Amess situation on our hands.

Israel had every right to retaliate after the music festival but anyone that doesn’t think they’ve gone too far is a bit of a twat really.
