• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I wonder if a contract extension was agreed in principle until the manager at the time left for the south coast.

Either way I believe we're a much better team without him anywhere near it.

Ran the Soton 10k this morning. First time I’ve been to St Mary’s. Cracking pitch they have. I saw a couple of blokes with Saints shirts on at the finish. Their take was that they’ve had enough of his bullshit. I told him what it was like with us and they said “he did that then too?”. I told them he changed under extreme pressure then went back, and they wouldn’t believe he changed. They reckoned Downs was a championship player and that Manning is league 1! I forgot to ask about Wood.

Do we have any evidence that someone really offered £10m for him? I mean we sold Downes for only a little more than that, so surely the club would have jumped at the chance of making that much money on an inferior player.
It’s the Mail, so take it with a pinch of salt and a massive dose of racism 🤣

They can slag off Manning, and they can criticise Wood all they like. I will not stand for Flynn Downes slander! Gah, he was so good for that one sweet, sweet season

Just want him back :(

I'm right there with you in wanting him back, but he wouldn't be the first player to stand out a Championship level and then flop in the Prem. Didn't make it at West Ham and it seems that at least some Soton fans don't rate him either.

Yeah, their response was to my comment that, “FD is a good player though”…they said yeah, in the championship. They threw in Manning, unprovoked.

Downes was excellent for us…in the championship.

Championship is his level, I'd love him back.
