So Wood better off financially but his career is going nowhere. Back in the Championship next season where he maybe sold to cut the wage bill.

Announced hot on the heels of the news the club is being bought.
Think it's a case of the new guys wanting a line put through it before they officially take over.

Could be that, but what was there to announce? And there was no club announcement that I saw?

Probably nothing to announce and the fact that there has been nothing is the reason why the guys raking over have let it drip into the media.

There will be a lot of questions when they take over so this will be one less that can be asked.

I'm trying to read the article but have been scrolling down the page for around an hour after the first couple of lines to find the rest of it. Shambles of a website.

I forgot they’d bought Wood. That’s cheered me up.
£3M and off that report is right about a million of that was a sweetener to get us to drop the complaints against Martin/S’ton. Didn’t we turn down £10 million for him the previous year? Sums up our incompetence lately.

£10m for Wood would have felt like a lottery win.

Do we have any evidence that someone really offered £10m for him? I mean we sold Downes for only a little more than that, so surely the club would have jumped at the chance of making that much money on an inferior player.

Hmm, it’s somewhat hard to believe it now. However at the time he was showing some form and was in and around the England U21 set up. If we did lose out on ten million then that’s some screw up for a club with our model.
