The Miserable Bstard Thread

To be fair, even in miserable bastard mode, I suspect there are a few things worse wayne

I think this thread could be popular.

I got a cut in my car tyre today, quote was £365. For a tyre, in a 'discount' place. What the hell is going on with this country?

Plus that miserable old git Squarebear is thrashing my arse at Nerdle.

My favourite response to a challenge when Mrs WK was heavily pregnant "you can turn the other way" to which I said don't do it it's rude. Shall I come and block your car in?

I live in Bromley and the situation is pretty clear here. If you have a dropped kerb outside your house and a vehicle is parked with any part of it overhanging the angled part, as the householder you can use an online form to report it. I have done this several times now when I don't know whose vehicle it is. Usually when the report is Monday to Friday I get the bloke on his moped arrive within 30 mins. He tickets the car.
I can if I wish, "register" my dropped kerb which means it should be routinely visited by the bloke on the bike. I haven't done this because I want to be sure of a response when I need one plus if it's registered I can't risk parking my own car there as I could get a ticket!
It's the gall of people who give no thought to others that gets me.
Maybe worth looking a bit deeper into what happens in Swansea? To me in Bromley this is an easy cash cow for the council so I'd be surprised if Swansea didn't view it the same way

Thanks, I think that the way things are in Swansea, seems to be the right way, from what you have said about Bromley could just lead to anti-social behaviour between neighbours, example I have a driveway, and you don't, I then park my car in your normal place, and then smile as you walk half a mile down the road with your shopping, after a while you blow a fuse, and park over my driveway, and I just phone the parking police, and you get a ticket.. I'm sorry, but this rule in Bromley seems open to abuse.

And looking at it, with the way Swansea Council grant planning permission for dropped kerbs, I'm glad they do not!, looking out the window, at the properties opposite, there are 2 dropped kerbs, both with the white T bars, now fortunately the person who normally parks there, in-between has a small car, and looking at it, the car just about fits in, without overhanging the angled kerbs. Now a larger car would, so if Swansea Council adopted Bromleys stance, surely that would be illegal? Basically no consultation, about something which could have a massive detrimental effect on someone's life?

I think it's a really complex issue parking! Which I know, SCC are aware of, yet unless there is a new build, it seems they overlook the frustrations of many residents.

Thinking of it, I understand your frustration, especially after forking out a good few quid for a driveway, I suppose ticketing thoughtless drivers who encroach over the dropped kerb, would be ok as long as other measures were in place to stop anti social behaviour by neighbours, off the top of my head, I would suggest anyone with a dropped kerb can only park in their driveway, if it's out on the street anywhere else it's a PCN.

You're overthinking this I believe Jack123. My road is a bit of a rat run and in recent years as people have acquired more cars and cars have got larger the part of the road I live in has become a pinch point especially when the bus is trying to get past. If I want a bit of free entertainment I sit and watch the fun start around 5.30 as drivers going up and down refuse to give ground.

My main reason for getting the parking installed was to finally prevent my car getting hit by passing vehicles, which was something of a regular occurrence. I couldn't do it for years due to an old blossom tree on the verge, which the council would.not agree to chop down. A particularly breezy Saturday morning in January 2020 sort d that out though!

On the neighbours issue they are not really the problem and if one of them does partially obstruct I do go and have a polite word, not a problem. I think for the neighbours they are still getting used to the idea that we are one space down outside now but at least the traffic flows a little easier past my house.

The main issue is with visitors; I don't know who they are so have little choice but to report them.

Thanks for explaining.. And seems like you had little choice, than to get the car off road.. I would bloody hate that, not knowing the next time your car may be hit. Hopefully it will lower insurance costs considerably.

I'm really glad this thread was started. For years, I've thought of myself as a grumpy old git but now, having read all of this thread, I have realised I'm not! Thanks guys! 👍😀😎

The start of the football season is ridiculously early these days. My birthday is 26 August and on a few occasions I enjoyed the first game of the season at the Vetch on my birthday.
I'm away on holiday with grandchildren for the first two home games almost every season nowadays. It's still the bloody cricket season ffs.

Was walking with the dog on the pavement outside our house. Young couple were blocking the way. He had a a baby strapped around him in one of those shawls. She had a bicycle with one of those big wooden boxes on the front. Made no attempt to move out of the way. Vegans no doubt. Bloody irritating. 😂

I need to change, I analyse every interaction, like what you said, I have been thinking about it since you said that, I go to Tescos, in the past someone has jumped the queue, and I told them off, it was on my mind for days, just self analysis, playing back in my mind, every moment of that.. I was like was I right? Could I have handled it differently.. It's hard for my silly brain to rest sometimes, I look outside and I say to the wife, ferking hell, if certain people move out, just say two, we will be ferked, if the new occupiers have got 3 cars.. It's just constant, I would not say worrying, but maybe making mountains out of molehills. ? I used to think, maybe I might be cleverer than than the rest, but no, I need to relax..

But Thanks for saying that about overthinking, you are not the first to tell me that, I need to relax.

EdIt: I am chuffed, first time ever, I have actually rectified a quote error! Get in there!

Right. De La Beche Road during the school run can feck right off. 30 minutes it took me to pop out on Gower Road. I'm too old (and miserable) for this shyte.

My wife has unplugged the internet, sending our battery of powerline adaptors into meltdown. She knows this happens when she unplugs the router, and she knows it takes me endless hours of running up and down stairs simultaneously cursing and pressing buttons. And she's done it the very day that the stressy daughters (who NEED their internet SO BAD) are coming home. I'm aghast. Why do I always find this so difficult?

If ever there was a thread suited to this place. The only way it could be more relevant was if it was the ‘Miserable Old Bstard Thread’

It's 20°C and sunny here today, I'm strolling around in shorts. I'm flying to the UK on Wednesday and staying the first two nights in Hereford, where the forecast says rain and temperatures of 6°C in the day and 0°C at night.
Sort your feckin' weather out, will you?
