The new Champions League format

Make the most of it because this won't happen again. Next year you'll see the big boys taking it very seriously from day one to make sure they get top 8.

I think a lot of them either didn't understand the new system or didn't care, thinking they could just grow into the group stage gradually. City and Madrid will be furious that they've put themselves in a position where they could be without European football before the end of February. No chance that's happening next year.
I count at last fourteen ‘big boys’ so it will very much be more of the same next season. The form of Man City in the Champions League is no different to their form in the Premier League, are they not taking that seriously either?

As much as it grinds my gears to praise Liverpool, you have to respect that they could play the kids in their dead rubber of a final match even in this new and more competitive format. Icing on the cake is that even though they lost, they still ended in top spot because Barcelona slipped up.

Liverpool are the only giant to have been on it from the first game this season. Everyone else has just been playing in fits and bursts. They're the only that's set their level and stayed there.
