It was more important for a lot of players to be actually playing in a world cup finals tournament than actually doing something meaningful when they got there .

Include the manager in that. We have missed the opportunity to give some young players a taste of tournament football which is unforgivable.

Proud to have seen us at a World Cup but we’ve severely underperformed…even for a country our size etc. Except for the last 10 mins or so v USA, it’s pretty much been like this. USA did this to us in the first half and Iran did this to us all game.

We’re just outclassed. Too many players playing on reputations, coupled with just poor players. Qatar in our group would have been our only hope of a victory. Page is a terrible choice, but I’m not sure Shankly could do much with the tools available here.

ANY of the African and Middle Eastern teams would muller us with their pace, hunger, intensity and will to win.
