Anyone seen this film?
I haven’t but loads of people that I’ve spoken to say it’s utter bilge yet it’s won and has been nominated for lots of awards.
Anyone?

That description could well be applied to Twelve Years a Slave.

Watched the first hour, and had to give up....it is one of the slowest tempio movies I've ever seen...yes the scenery shots are mighty impressive (shot in New Zealand), but it progresses at the rate of an extremely turgid slug.

Cumberbatch is quite watchable in an enigmatic, weird looking sort of way, but I think the film has been put on a pedestal purely because it is directed by Jane Campion...very few women Directors, MeToo over emphasis bollox ...!

The Academy board members always vote for films that are considered to be worthy rather than popular. I think this one was in cinemas for the minimum time necessary to qualify for the awards.

These are the winners for best picture in the last 10 years and I haven't seen any of them, which I know says a lot about me, but still. I'm hoping that "Belfast" wins it this year to break my duck. Has anyone else done better than me and seen most of them? Or all of them?

(2021) Nomadland, Parasite, Green Book, The Shape of Water, Moonlight, Spotlight, Birdman, 12 Years a Slave, Argo, The Artist (2011).

Only saw 12 years a Slave. i enjoyed it. That ends this public service broadcast.

Most award winning films are boring and don't make much money , joker was an exception
