Has The Process been abandoned or is what we're seeing now just Phase 2 of The Process? Martin has spent just over a year drilling possession, possession, possession into the players and now he's satisfied that they understand that aspect, has he introduced a more pragmatic and penetrative element into the proceedings including 2 big lumps at the back, long balls over the top, high press, etc?

He's certainly changed Tact but we are still sloppy at the back. As opposed to overplaying we are now getting caught in possession a lot. When I watched the WBA game the home commentator kept saying a high press and they will give us chances. That's just the oppo fans who knowing it. Kyle is good on the ball but he is getting caught out the most. I think he needs a rest.

Kyle was certainly in the wars on Saturday - I honestly don't understand why RM left him on and even had him taking some throw ins when his shoulder was definitely causing him grief and we had an able replacement in the form of either Latibeaudiere or Darling (we could have used Finley Stevens as right wingback instead of Lati if we really wanted to take off Sorinola).

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him given a rest tomorrow night.

I suspect to a degree he's had to swallow a bit of pride and change some things. Reinstating Benda to the starting lineup and (mostly) ditching that stupid goal kick routine have improved things a bit at the back, but there's still plenty of work to do in the long run though.

We still don't have the midfield mix right for me. Allen, Fulton & Grimes are all a bit too similar. Two out of three we can probably get away with, but we do miss a genuine dynamic force in the centre of the park. Someone to take games by the scruff of the neck and drive play on.

Nah.  This ain't evolutionary process improvement, Phase 2.  It ain't even process reengineering along a carefully crafted transformational journey.

This was revolutionary seismic change thrust upon from above and percolated up from below. Discontent was rife.

This ain't Martinball. The Martinball process is no more, it's definitely deceased.  No point Parroting on about it. Nailed on, dead. Sittin on it's Perch

By all accounts Martin was apoplectic when he was told to ditch the Fish and his Darling. Equally seething when recently told to not punish Oba any longer and include him in the matchday squad.

Let's look forward to this new chapter of non-Martinball, winning effectively and efficiently with proper defending by proper defenders defending properly.

Agreed. It took him longer than it should have, but as long as he keeps learning and improving, then all power to him. Midfield does still need attention, it's a shame that Ntcham seems to have his best performances as a substitute.

He's only 36, so you'd hope he'd be willing to take on advice if things weren't going to well. Which they weren't.

Yes hopefully now he realizes that results are the key success to being a good manager. I'm still not convinced but would be delighted if he changed my mind.

He’s a young manager and will make mistakes - it’s nice to see he’s starting to learn from them.

Imagine the board had succumbed to fan pressure and sacked him a few weeks back - shows how clueless and reactionary some of our fans are.

What is your source for this information? Who else in a management position in the club would have been "telling" him to coach in a different way as you describe? You sound like you have inside knowledge, so share it with us.

Seen posts saying this is the poster previously known as 'AndyCole' on t'other site. If so, his source will likely be his own imagination.

 The voices in his head are his source.

Correct.

A few “Martin out” fans choking on their huge slice of humble pie. 😂

Well yes and no. I think most of the Russell out people were Russell out if he didn't change and we continued to play way we were which wasn't working. I doubt if we'd continued that way we'd have picked up this many points.

Our upturn in form has coincided with a number of changes that have been made:
- Benda has come in.
- O Cooper has come in.
- the new set piece coach has bedded in
- the emphasis on pointless passing without intent at all costs had evidently been dropped.

So Martin deserves credit for learning and having the balls to make the changes needed but it is him who has changed, not the fans who were justifiably questioning performances and tactics.
