The RB situation-Key and Galbraith

I would start him instead of Ronald at right wing for a few games and give him a go. He looked far more dynamic than Ronald in the second half on Tuesday and improved the team and that was from full back.
I'd lean towards keeping him, when he first joined he looked a good player. Since he's been here we're now on our third manager which can't help.

In terms of Ronald, we had Liam Cullen on the right wing come the end of the game, that is quite telling.

I feel the persistence with playing Ronald week in week out is the lack of an alternative at the moment.

The big question is what will happen to Josh Key.

Does he stay and fight for the position with potentially Lissah or another signing?
It’ll probably depend on how he plays the rest of the season, if he can re-establish himself as a starter he’ll stay and try and compete with whoever we bring in during the summer. If he’s frozen out he’ll probably ask for a move if have thought.

I think he'll end up staying on.

Matos seems to be involving him a bit more each time during a game.

He got beyond their full back a few times which was encouraging. It's a massive thing to draw a full back from sitting in closer to his centre half when it comes to putting a cross in.
Maybe this is something that is not helping our winger either..having a full back in Galbraith who goes inside to add extra numbers into central midfield rather than supporting Ronald down the flank?
Or is Ronald just that poor in general 🤣!?

Yes, there’s no combination (think Rangel and Dyer) when Galbraith plays RB because he’s drifting into the centre all the time.

Maybe something to also consider on our away travels. Maybe could be worth looking at a bit more experience in Ward for the tougher away games or away games in general given our lack of success on the road.
I know it can't all be pinpointed to this alone but going by what the thread is about...it's worth hearing others views.

Football fans eh.....it wasnt long ago Key was the target of severe criticism...
Yes we fans are entitled to our opinions but the only opinion that matters is that of tye manager.
Matos has chosen to play Galbraith at fullback doing so has allowed some good midfield combos....who drops out to accomodate Galbraith there? ..and our record has been pretty good whilst Vitor has set us up this way. BUT according to some Galbraiths wandering ....which is planned as tree hugger as discussed and usually Ronald,Franco or an other drops into the slot when he maruades across the pitch.....has cost us away from home. Really?
Hull penalty as a result of Bens moment of madeness and then a poor clearance.
Derby 2 goals from set pieces...Coventry tram falling asleep as half ending and a set.puece.
Matos knows what he is doing ....who do yoy drop from midfield to accomodate Galbraith there?
It is said he was signed as a midfielder, we had a player signed as a midfielder who could play at the back too who Frank Burrows comverted to a centre back....Galbraith played a fair bit of football at Orient at fullback.

I was unable to attend Tuesday or watch at the time. I have since watched the whole game 3 times....having read the forums I was expecting to see us overun in the first half .
We werent we were sortnof typical....creating opportunities to score from both open play and set pieces yet not converting them. We gave away a goal and then Preston sat back.
In fairness to Matos he made the changes at half time....Galbraith had to come into midfield as Fulton was struggling....I urge everyone to watch the whole game again ...after 90 mins on Saturday and a frantic 45 mins Tuedsay he was blowing...Galbraith was his only option.
Watch the game Key himself cuts into midfield,he like Ronald also kicks the ball into fullbacks shins when trying to cross

Matos said when he came he needed to build a team....sometimes teams dont always have 11 stars they have players which do a job...Matos has done this....We created many scoring chances in that game ...I wonder did the hype and atmosphere of the night rob manyy of their true view.of the game...we failed to convert them until another of our players much criticised by many stepped up and scored the equaliser

Not reading all that, but you honestly watched that game 3 times? 🤣🤣🤣

Same poster wanted Sheehan arrested for treason not so long back.
I think you are confusing me with someone else.
Whilst I didnt thimk he was the right choice for the full time gig despite rescuing us last season I have never posted statements re his arrest

It was a figure of speech

If you managed to supposedly watch that game 4 times and came to the conclusion that we created chances in the first half then I really dont know what to say.

Heckingbottom did a number on us first half all credit to him but Matos flipped the switch with his half time substitutions the and did a number on him in the 2nd half.

If he's being caught out of position by design then we need to be aware of teams that can expose that and then adaptability to team selection needs to be considered.
Having a full back who holds that RB position and looks to play down the flank does then offer a more balanced team than it would with Galbraith coming in field.....something Matos clearly saw Tuesday evening which he rightly made the call when he switched things.

If you don't see that then that's a shortfall from your side but luckily Matos was aware of it.

I didn’t say he’s caught out of position by design, I said he’s not caught out of position because it suggests he’s not supposed to be in the middle on a quick turnover, but he is.

Matos selects him to start RB weekly, haven’t you noticed this? Do you think Matos has had an epiphany now and that’s it, no more Galbraith at RB? It was an in-game tactical decision, not an overhauling of thinking.

Thats literally the point of his position, to be another 6 in possession, it’s why it works so well and a clear part of why we are going so well, that doesn’t change because Preston scored a goal.
