I won't lie. I was out and about today and when this came up in my head, over and over it felt like someone gave me a gut punch. It feels like we have walked into a car lot looking for a Porsche and come out with a Volvo. I will get behind Matos and I hope it works out. Show us what we all don't know and what he is. Not all managers have to be prolific, but this seems like desperation. I suppose no manager unless he has had proven success like Rodgers etc will always be a risk. Even Hellberg. No guarantee that will work.
When we had Rodgers first time around he didn't have proven success.

True. Maybe my mood will pick up when it's done and dusted. I actually advocated for an unproven and unknown international manager in a poll I created. So no real arguments, it's the Hellberg saga that has hit me. I liked the look of him, but saying that I knew very little about him before he was linked. Fickle as I am. My opinion with grain of salt. 😂

This is true. He had good contacts at Chelsea for their young players. Sinclair and Borini followed him here and the rest is history.

So we supposedly offer Hellberg pennies, but will pay 1M for a guy with 12 games in management. Make it make sense
I believe they were willing to meet Hellbergs clause which was a lot cheaper than this rumoured Matos clause.

Yeah but rumours were we offered him a little more than he’s on at Hammerby, wonder if we will pay the 1M buy out for Matos.

Suppose we will never know if its the money, position in the table, location or more convenient with travel, that made him go to Boro? We won't be paying Matos anywhere near what we offered Hellberg. Its been reported we did go back and offer Hellberg more. But again, his decision based on what?
