The Women's Ashes

Well anyway, the third ODI starts tonight at at 11pm. Pretty much a must win for England already. If you want to watch, enjoy and comment this is the thread for you. If you want to instigate a pointless battle in the culture wars about it, this is not the thread for you. There are plenty of other forums for that nonsense. This thread is about cricket.

If you love cricket then I think if you gave women's international cricket a real go, you'd enjoy it.

Even the T20 stuff is far less smash and grab than the men's because there are usually far less boundaries, especially as the more effective bowlers tend to be spinners/slower bowlers with plenty of teams even opening with spin.

It is a bit different for obvious reasons but still a good watch.
You see this is a good reply. It’s mature it makes me question my thoughts.

Will just be getting through the door at that time, so will catch an hour.

It's disappointing to see them appear to have gone backwards over the last 18 months or so. After the last Ashes, I thought they were going to really kick on and challenge the Aussies but they appear to be inconsistent at best, especially when Sciver Brunt and Knight don't get going like they can.

That said, they were 6-0 down last time out and still managed to tie the series (although not regaining the Ashes) but lose tonight and they'll then have to win all the T20s and the Test which seems like a tall order.

Hopeful that things will click later and it'll all be to play for going into the T20s where I think England may have a slight edge.

They absolutely bottled the second game. It was a golden opportunity. Harder to lose and they went to pieces when it mattered.

Hartley is absolutely correct, some of the English ladies are clearly out of condition, Eccleston being one of the worst culprits, the lack of fitness is showing up in the field especially. Instead of getting upset by Alex Hartley's observations, get yourselves fitter. No wonder Australia are wiping the floor with England.
