• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Russell Martin has been in the Swansea hot seat for pretty much 18 months now and it has been an up and down period both for him and the football club as a whole. But there’s one worrying trend that seems to follow the former Norwich City defender – fall outs with players which see […]

Decent write up, although I would argue that there's been little wrong with Oba's efforts on the pitch when he's been given a chance. He's been a consistent goal threat and there's never a lack of work from him.

The last sentence nails it. We're not in a position to be ignoring players because of a managers petulance. His job is to make the best of ALL the tools at his disposal and his regular refusal to do so will cost us in the long run.

But it's not Martin's fault, the naughty players were 15 minutes late for one of his bollo speeches.

Wasn't there talk that Bennett would trigger more money if he played a amount of games? Accepting he wasn't one for Martin's style.
Obafemi, another who we hope would come good, but imo in many games was a headless chicken.
Finally, the side lining of players. The club is a business, surely if this was a main issue, wouldn't Winter get involved if it was to the detriment to the business

No head coach would keep their jobs if they were causing problems behind the scenes, as seen with Sousa.

Which is my thoughts, I can't see RM being allowed to drop players other than disciplinary or form/style of play.

The club is firstly a business, football supports that.

Maybe the club can't afford to sack him and his team, they don't think we will get into the Prem at the moment so will just sit back as long as losses don't mount up.

RM is being vilified by some on social media, I'm not happy with our progress or lack of, but can't see all our issues being down to one man.

If it's as bad as it appears to be WTF is Winter doing?

Very good write up that, a good quality experienced manager would/should have the qualities to deal with players with all attitudes, but some players are far to abstinent and arrogant to listen and learn.

Martin is a young manager still learning, he's made mistakes and will make more mistakes, its the nature of the beast especially in the Football World, learning from those mistakes makes the Manager and I'm not sure that Martin is at that stage.

Clough famously ignored Trevor Francis and others when they were injured.

Alex Ferguson while he managed to get the best out of mavericks such as Cantona and Keane, he couldn't deal with the attitudes of Gillespie, Sharpe, Beckham, Stam amongst others.

Even the very best can't always work with or make some characters compliant.

We made someone head coach once despite his long track record of causing problems behind the scenes.
