Things that annoy you more than they should

The only thing I pay cash for these days is my haircuts. I've not put it to the test yet but theoretically my card statement should suffice as a proof of purchase.

Presumably if I were returning a mouldy chicken the supermarket person could either:
A) look at your credit card entry for £120, check the date, find the sales transaction, drill down into the purchased items, see I bought chicken, refund me £3.

Or B), look me in the eye, decide "12 quid an hour for this grief?" And refund me the £3.

My pet hate at the moment, is the supermarkets absolutely screwing us in Wales.

Take for example Madri, 10 cans are 12 quid, but in England, it’s 2 for 20.

The absolute rotters are screwing the Welsh right up the jacksy, it’s 2 units per can, = a quid a can. Oh no, these ball bags at the supermarkets artificially increase their price on a pack of ten, to screw us even more.

Surely that’s a good thing if it discourages people from drinking more than they should? Less women getting knocked about, less arseholes drink driving, less people suffering from chronic alcohol related illnesses, the list can go on and on with positives.

I would have said haircuts are the only thing I use cash for but I was in Swansea market last week and bought cockles. The lady serving me had a stinking attitude because I went to use my card to pay. That’ll be the last time I buy cockles from there.

I purchased some paint in B&Q, quite niche stuff and only comes in small tins at £14 a pop. I bought two as wasn’t sure one would be enough, so I was very much wanting a receipt in the event of potentially being able to return one tin. I won’t go out of my way to get a refund, but will do next time I’m passing. My principles don’t allow me to have a full unused tin sat in the garage. As for the B&M shelving, we’ve all been there with MFI self assembly items which are missing the one vital screw.

In defence of the retailer, they have to demonstrate how they are committed to sustainability and not offering a receipt is an easy win for them.

I was happy to pay in cash (because unusually I had collected money that was owed to me the day before and I was paid in cash), but her attitude was terrible. Took me by surprise I’ve got to be honest.

Most probably because they lose a bit of money from the sale, I know quite a few small shops that won’t take card payments unless the value is over a certain amount. Shame about their attitude though, they should just put a sign up, saying card payments only if spending over x amount.

They did have a sign up on the glass display cabinet which was about knee height that’s what set her off because I didn’t see that sign, then she just got worse as the convo went along.
