The only thing I pay cash for these days is my haircuts. I've not put it to the test yet but theoretically my card statement should suffice as a proof of purchase.
Presumably if I were returning a mouldy chicken the supermarket person could either:
A) look at your credit card entry for £120, check the date, find the sales transaction, drill down into the purchased items, see I bought chicken, refund me £3.
Or B), look me in the eye, decide "12 quid an hour for this grief?" And refund me the £3.
