Dare I open myself up for a hammering, but what Benham has done with Brentford is genius. Proper structure, fùcked the academy off for a B team when they saw that the big clubs poached their players and have a style and identity.

We did it well, it was just a shame that hubris and shìt for brains got the better of Jenkins and co.

Aye fucked the academy off, but not before 'signing' youth players and leading them to believe they had a place at the club, before duly crushing them.

C**ts

Nah, it was because the EPPP is geared up to allow the big clubs to cherry pick players for a pittance.

They paraded a load of U8 players around the field before a game against Fulham, had them sign 'contracts', made them think they were training with the club, and then shut the academy soon after, crushing these kids for no reason, they knew there would be no team

"The Bees, under Matthew Benham's ownership, had made youth development a priority but have decided it is no longer worth the investment if category one clubs, such as Manchester City, can cherry pick young talent for nominal sums by football's standards."

Although I agree, it's messed up. The academy system is a farce
