Unbelievable to watch the TV coverage of this, his car is snapped in half and engulfed in flames.

Never seen anyone walk away from a crash like that before. The addition of the Halo saved his life, no question.

Just watched the start replay, pleased to see him get out of that. Unbelievable, the explosion was dramatic and just kept burning.

An amazing crash, and awesome that Grosjean git out of it. I thought he was a gonner watching it live.

I thought he was dead.

I don't know the specifics of the safety protocols, but I don't think he would have had a hope of survival even 10 years ago.

Just seen this, unbelievable, how did he get out seemingly unscathed. Incredible.
Thank god he's ok.

Never seen anything like that before, unbelievable how safe the cars are these days.

Not a single fracture https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.grosjean-describes-halo-as-greatest-thing-from-hospital-bed-saying-he.5MK7YgW3eTYADMLzifORes.html

The good thing is that technology in F1 is cutting edge (please pardon the pun!), and does eventually filter down to mass produced vehicles and ancillaries.

Amazing the length of time he was in the inferno too.

The safety advances have been massive but looking back on it there are still things that need looking at.
There's no way the armco should split like that, it's an unusual place to crash but that still shouldn't happen - race cars can go off anywhere after contact.
As ever there's a certain amount of luck as well, the med car was on the spot in seconds & the crew were instrumental in helping him out. If the accident had been further around the lap that wouldn't have been the case & the outcome could have been far worse.

What absolutely bewildered me is that they restarted the race in exactly the same way! Stroll then went upside down not long after.

I know it's part of the attraction that everyone goes fast into that first corner, but there has to be some sort of change.
