Just a heads up lads, seems there's a bit of a drive slow protest planned tomorrow at 10am from Swansea to Newport traveling at 30mph along the m4, if it does get going I would imagine this will cause massive disruption.

Edit: Copied from the post I read;

The Schedule is currently as follows.
30th of September 2023 @10 am, 4 convoys setting off simultaneously are to travel in 4 direction at 30mph in single file.
Newport to Swansea - Magor services
Swansea to Newport- Trostre retail park Llanelli
Bangor to Wrexham - Bangor services
Wrexham to Bangor - Sainsbury's carpark
Route numbers may increase or decrease depending on volunteers
Arrive half hour early so you're ready to go
Why 30mph?
1. to stay within the law
2. to save damage to your engine, it is now proven that 20mph for a prolonged period causes higher emissions output and damage to your engines.
3. BECAUSE WE WANT 30MPH BACK NOT 20MPH!
Leading vehicles travel minimum 30mph, below this you risk prosecution and do so at your own risk. Blocking all lanes and you may be prosecuted and do so at your own risk. There must be access for emergency vehicles! Convoys are to travel in single file with hazards in use. Vehicles are to give way to those joining or leaving roads. We recommend vehicles rotate and take turns as lead vehicles along the route. People will join and leave the protest along the routes, please bear this in mind. Please stay within the law.

Remember the last one of these? The organisers being carted off and ridiculed on social media  they even had a Walesonline journo in one of the vehicles.

I do love a protest me.

Protest at slower speed limits by driving slow. On a Saturday. On the M4. Between Swansea and Newport. Genius at work here.

It's not a bad idea to be honest, I'm not sure of the legality of it, but it's better than causing criminal damage to signs and so on. There's already a petition with nearly half a million names on, which by the look the WG will ignore.

When you think of it, if these protestors really wanted to turn the heat up, a couple of well planned drive slow in places like Swansea and Cardiff, and there would be utter chaos, I have noticed in Swansea, if one main road is shut due to an accident Mumbles Road for example, it creates chaos, now multiply that by x3 Mumbles Road, Carmarthen Road, and say Llangefelach road, now that would bring Swansea to it's knees.. Not that I'm condoning that kind of behaviour,.

Many of the same people cheering on this that were wetting their knickers about JSO protests, no doubt.

Someone is bound to crash on this virtuous expedition, not everyone in England and Wales knows this is going to happen.. it'll be road rage and handbags at dawn! On this busiest day of the week

There is a difference, I don't think many people give 2 hoots about the JSO Greta Thunberg brigade.

How many people who signed the petition are English or Tories or sheep or just lumpheads

So they plan to drive slower to protest against having to drive slower.

Why don't they just drive at 20mph on 20mph roads

Mainly Welsh, have signed the petition. The majority hate it, it's as simple as that,

So have you thought about how this drive slow in busy areas of Swansea " to bring Swansea to its knees" would impact the emergency services trying to let's say, get to a house fire or someone suffering a heart attack...

Facebook heroes couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

A single JSO protestor would cause more 'carnage' and get more headlines than that lot could ever dream of.

What’s your point? You’re having a go at a peaceful protest and suggest maybe it should be more militant? Listen to yourself.

No 1 you’re beyond tedious

No 2 you’re incoherent

It’s hardly the sort of thing that I’d going to cause thousands of people to go all out is it? I’ve had a moan, like others and that’s that. There are far more important things to worry about. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid idea which most disagree with.

Smile and enjoy your weekend.
