How ironic to hear Trump and the Ruskis on the TV news this morning lecturing Zelensky on democracy.
The same Trump who is such a big democrat that he refused to accept a flawless US presidential election four years ago because he lost it, and urged his supporters to storm the Capitol building and even lynch his own Vice President!
And what can we say about the democratic credentials of fascist dictator, child murderer and international criminal Vladimir Putin? If you stand up against him in elections, you better check your life insurance policy first, because you're not going to be around much longer.
As others have said, European leaders need to grow backbones and start standing up to these neo-Nazis now. And Starmer, stop kissing Trump's arse, you're embarrassing all of us.....

Depending on whose side of the story, you listen to. If you listen to both sides and their arguments for war, it certainly is a complex mess.

I think there is nothing remotely wrong in saying stop the war, without attributing blame to anyone. It’s the sort of thing, I learned in the infants.

This was also the point when Trump said he’d stop the war before the election the reality was/is that this could always happen. It doesn’t take a genius to carve up a Country give it to the aggressor and say “look peace”

How would you feel if a dictator came in took Pembrokeshire and Powys. Killed 100s thousands of your people and destroyed its infrastructure. How would you feel? And that’s just on the emotional level.

On the strategic rational level this capitulation to the Russian bear is toxic for Europe and creates the conditions for a much larger escalation. The chance of Putin annexing Eastern Europe is not a racing certainty and will mean on a political and economic level massive resources moving into defending sovereign borders which means austerity in other areas of spending.

I could go on and on. “Stop the war” who the fuck wouldn’t want to stop the war.

The problem we have here is cognitive dissonance. Trump is a leg to some people and they can’t open their mind to the realisation that because he’s a bit nasty to some brown people that his actions are causing untold issues which will indirectly hit them hard too.

Imagine the UK invading Ireland (again) just because we wanted a lasting legacy of how fucking awesome we were. Then after everyone hated us, tried to economically bring us to our knees and we lost lots of our troops and were visibly weaker the Americans came over and had peace negotiations with the UK and didn't include Ireland saying that the Irish deserved it and yeah have even more of their land.
