• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Sadly, it is my belief that the trust is no longer "fit for purpose ".
This is not a judgement call on the work done in the past or on today's announcement.
Just that I feel our voice will not realistically be heard at boardroom level, unless we reach the nadir of the Petty times again ( and I hope we do not)
Personally speaking I would like to see it dissolved and and any monies coming from the dissolution being used fot the benefit of those in the Swans fanbase or community less physically or financially able to enjoy things many of us take for granted ( e.g. take a group of elderly people to a match in Hospitality or treat a group of disabled children and carers to a luxury trip to watch Swans away, etc)

Just putting the finishing pieces to an opinion piece on this particular announcement from yesterday - from being slightly incredulous when it happened to more and more angry as the AGM unfolded

I have to say the constant "please ask questions on other subjects" showed such a disregard for the views of the members it was incredible to watch

I guess to them it’s no big deal what they’ve agreed to must be more important questions such as the quality of the toilet paper in the toilets.

For those more in the know than me, would setting up an alternative fans group be viable/ worthwhile?

As angry as I am the thought of a Swansea supporters against the trust style group being necessary still saddens me in terms of how we've ended up here.

I can't even bring myself to read it just now. I believed so strongly in the whole club model from the start, these are yet more bitter pills...and to be stabbed in the back by 'our' side for their own egos and childish self important outcomes puts the tin hat on it.

T2C asked on his Twitter, how can a few transient unqualified people take such an important decision and undo the 20 year work of so many (imagine the response of the likes of RL today), while going against their own membership, and he is right. The hubris is beyond belief. As it can't be undone, if there is to be any natural justice it certainly needs consequences for those individuals, so they get no benefits for their selfish disregard. I would urge people to join the trust, just to remove them.

Funny how you read things and it triggers a memory

I wrote in the opinion piece about the Americans asking us in 2017 if there was any way we could do a deal without reference to our members. We told them the legal opinion was we could but the decision was too big to be taken without consultation. The result was the deal that was presented - not a perfect deal but makes this one look like a lottery win.

Clearly this time they asked again and the answer was very different and the result was yesterday - a carefully orchestrated and timed release a few hours before the Trust AGM. So cleverly timed that one member of the Trust board continually said "read the statement" last night as if he felt that in four hours people hadnt had chance.

Good article Phil, but a sad one to read.

Mistakes will be made, people can accept that, but this now doesn't seem like a "mistake".

I can't say what I really think has gone on because I may have to shell out a bigger legal fee than what HJ & Co just paid the trust.

I haven't read your article yet, but thought this morning I would have relaxed a bit, but in no way change my thoughts. The club as an entity is in the blood, but I've never felt so distant from it at the moment. The club maybe being run on a financial footing, but it's not being done for the fans but for shareholders (understandable) so can ignore the PR rhetoric. For this to happen by a small number of people ignoring 20 years of toil by so many people at the moment leaves me unable to put across my total disbelief.

Picture this
Tony Petty playing up front for Cardiff against us - straight through on goal but there's a wonder save by Lillicrap and it falls to Mel Nurse. Mel Nurse brings it out of defence. Sumbler picks it up in midfield and passes it out to Godden on the wing. Takes it on and ce crosses over perfectly to Dalton who, with an open goal in front of him, traps it awkwardly, turns and runs all the way back to our goal unchallenged and plonks it into the roof of our own net. He runs into the arms of the jubilant Jenkins, Dineen and Morgan on the bench. Levien, Kaplan, Porter and Silverstein do high fives in the stand. Can we pull one back? No, it's too late, whistle goes, game over.

I've read the article now. Well worded and I'm sure you had to hold back because of the swear filter. When I think back to the formation of the Trust, the true passion that was shown and now to come to this.😠

I've taken time to reflect on this and can only say that this is a crass incompetent decision.

I've dealt with American financiers in business so I can guess what you might be thinking. Best left unsaid for sure, but I'd be surprised if it were not something that crosses a lot of minds, if not already.

This deserves Twitter viralness (virality?) amongst all Swans fans.

There's was me thinking we had reached the next level Jenkins had talked about after selling out, I never thought the Trust (sic) would take us to another level below that again. Shameful.
