• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Vip is right up there in the goal scorers charts, above some big money names playing in far better teams, he’s managed this playing with a winger who hasn’t put a cross into the box since Halloween and a no 10 who you only realise is playing when he gets subbed.
He’s only just getting started imo and I think he can go all the way, especially under Matos’ guidance.

It's easy to say that we must keep Vipotnik to aid our cause this season, but if a Premier League side makes a reasonable offer, then he's off, or we risk having an unsettled/unhappy player on our hands.

Definitely this!

I am half convinced at this moment in time that Idah would be better off used on the right wing in place of Benson in the squad.
Been saying this for a while. He can't play centrally with his back to goal.

There is hope in Idah but not as a the main striker.

We have Bobby Wales waiting in the wings, could he step up and do a job?

How much did we sell Piroe for? Because Vip isn’t half the player of Piroe.

But I’ll also add that this side creates fuck all
tidy in the box for strikers.

I think it was generally understood to be about £10m. Not sure if that included the promotion bonus when Leeds went up to get it to £10m, or if it was £10m plus the bonus.

Agreed that Vipotnik is nothing like as good as Piroe.

We were in a weak position regarding Piroe the summer we sold him as he only had 12 months to run on his contract. The 4-year contract we gave Vip looked like a bad deal last year, but is looking better now. We have no reason to sell him this January unless we get a silly offer and are still in a very strong position in the summer given he'll still be under contract for 2 more years. Always the chance he agitates for a move of course, which would weaken our bargaining power.

I think the reason some aren’t sold on him is because he doesn’t tend to create his own space to shoot like Piroe and he’s sometimes late to get on the end of crosses. For me though, the simple truth is we just don’t create enough for him. Finishes like the one against Stoke are few and far between because we don’t get the ball to him in those areas often enough.

I think we need to not think of what we got for other players or how much profit we need. We need to think of what it would reasonably cost to replace his production. That's what the price should be, perhaps even a touch more.

My gut tells me that we should not consider anything below £10m (ideally about £12m) but it's highly unlikely anyone will consider stumping up this much cash. We must start negotiating from a place of disinterest rather than like a desperate junkie looking for our next fix.

Isn't he our top scorer this season and aren't we one of the lowest scoring sides in the division?

Not a good idea to sell him in January but what the fuck do I know.
