We want Sheehan out

At least there are teams below us who look worse or have big point deductions. Allows us to use this season as a learning curve to get things right for next year. It is frustrating constantly throwing away year after year as “rebuilds” though.

For me he needs to go soonish, his appointment wasn’t exactly aligned with all the high profile additions to the club and the apparent ambition. Nice bloke but out of his depth.

I think this meltdown after yesterday's result is bigger than any meltdowns under Martin or Williams' time in charge, probably because we all expected much, much more this season under Sheehan. Why that would be is anyone's guess.

Do you think it's because we've been here before with the previous two?

Almost like Alan sold us a dream and has delivered the same as before.

And therein lies the problem. People getting excited because we’ve signed some foreigners they’ve never heard of, so they must be good.

Our squad’s paper thin and seriously lacking quality where it matters. Ronald, Eom, Cullen offer very little threat. Vip can blast one in from 30 yards but is otherwise not involved in games. Inoussa and Widell have moments but are inexperienced. We have one RB, one LB and 2 kids covering CB and LB between them. Fulton and a featherweight kid is our midfield backup with Stamenic out.

If we’re honest, we know the players are not up to it at the moment. We know when we have a good player, we’ve seen enough and very few of these make our Championship best 11 of the modern era.

The last owners fkd us. What little money we had was spent on crap, some of which barely played before being loaned out or offloaded. It’s going to take a long time to fix us OR a lot of money/effort (and I’m not convinced we’re in a good place in terms of the leadership team).

We can see the players care and they’re collapsing on the pitch knackered at the end of games because they’ve given everything. It fks me off that fat knackers with 8 pints in them who can’t even be arsed to watch the whole game and can’t walk up the stairs without breaking into a sweat start hurling abuse at them.

We used to be better than this. We used to support the team through thick and thin, but that’s rapidly disappearing.

End of rant 🤣

Quality rant in fairness 😎

Your last sentence is what upsets me the most. The sense of togetherness as a fanbase has slowly disappeared.

I blame X for the discord, too many dafty's on a permanent rage on all things SCFC, most of them under 15 years of age to by the sound of it... 👀
That's a good point. A prime example of that is the Martin divide.

There are alternatives to X - I live in Germany and Pauli and Werder no longer use it. Why back Musk? Reckon we could be first UK club to ignore it. Massive marketing potential.

We have to stop gambling with managers as we have been ever since Laudrup left. This just isn't working.

The problem is, however, there are just so many crap managers out there it's extremely difficult to find the 'good uns' -- they'll either be rarer than Bob Bradley's 'manager of the season' awards, or simply out of our reach. Additionally it's not a given that a manager who was successful at other clubs can bring the same success to Swansea.

Management, moreso in football, is a funny game in itself. Do we keep Sheehan in the hope he can improve himself and the squad, or sack him...?

I, personally, would prefer it if we could avoid having to pay huge compensation to managers we sack before having to start things all over again with a new manager. But I'd more prefer us not being in this position to begin with.

So, keeping Sheehan is dubious at best and sacking him also has inherent risks.

Which brings me to the possibility of 'making a manager': a third option which 'could' yield very good results, is expensive but keeps things the same but vastly different... Confused? Let me explain...

This novel option involves hiring a mentor; a very experienced retired manager or head coach with a long proven track record working with highly successful clubs. Their role will be to directly work alongside Sheehan and pass on their experience, including to the assistant manager and coaches as an ongoing, developmental role which, if successful, will turn Alan Sheehan into an efficient, adept manager for the Swans; able to better manage the squad because, frankly, he is clearly out of his depth at present.

There are zero guarantees with any of the above options.

Considering these options, there is only one viable route and zero solutions. None are ideal or necessarily the answer to our problems.

This is one of those posts that give the appearance of something worthwhile and substantial and yet offers absolutely nothing: much like most managers out there.

Because, on paper at least, the team is considerably more capable.

Bristol City v Swansea City
