• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

On Mr Mercedes, the first series adapts the the first book in the trilogy (Mr Mercedes) which is a fairly basic and un-Stephen King like crime thriller. And a very good one at that. The second series is an adaptation of the third in the trilogy (End of Watch) which is a bit more traditionally King and a bit wacky so I can see why it’s a bit of a tonal shift. The third series is an adaptation of the second book in the trilogy (Finders Keepers) which is another crime thriller. Book three is effectively a sequel to book one in that they’re both based around Brady Hartsfield. Brady is nowhere to be seen in book two apart from in references to past events.

Don’t mean to be pedantic here, but don’t you mean Season rather than series, I have watched Mr Mercedes and it’s confusing as hell reading that.

Season/series. Means the same thing. Season is most used in the US, Brits tend to say series. I’ve no idea what’s so confusing to you

Watched th first episode of 'Fallout' on Prime last night. I thought it was a bit meh. I hope it's going to pick up.

I love that show. Probably edges out The Last of Us as the best adaptation of a video game(s) yet for me.

Having said that, I'm not sure if I'd be so into it if I didn't already love the world of Fallout from the games.

A lot happens in episode 2, after an opening episode that is mostly set-up, so I'd say that should give you a good idea if you're going to enjoy the series or not.

Fair point, weird though personally I always use season, didn’t really know it was an American term.

You've got five minutes to tune in to Channel 5 + 1, and see Michael Portillo's visit to Valencia and surrounds, my nearest big city. Check out the section on authentic paella in particular and the lovely village of El Palmar full of paella restaurants in the Albuefera natural park. Terrifico!
Watched that, reminded me of our trip there for the game , my best mate dragged me into a hairdressers, next to our hotel and we both had a peroxide blonde dye before the game ( we'd had a few starting in malaga airport), hadn't laughed so much for years I sorted tickets in the home end near the swans dugout, was just a fantastic couple of days, sadly he died the following year , I often reminisce about that trip and that program brought it back...

Nightmanager, brilliant.👍

DONT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT ANY SPOILER

I thought the opposite. I reckon, having read most of his books, that, despite being totally unsentimental and ruthless with his characters, Le Carre would never have sanctioned it. Unrealistic, from first episode to last, and an ending done purely to ensure a series 3, which we all know pine will win, despite having no chance of staying alive outside fantasy, which will ensue. It should have ended tonight if the writers had any integrity.

I can see why people would like it though. For pure drama, it works.

For pure entertainment, it was top notch, for me anyway.👍

Aye, I’m overthinking it, expecting too much. I just couldn’t suspend my disbelief on this for some reason, whereas normally I can.
