The goings on at the club during the last couple of months are bizarre to say the least.
Firstly, there was rumour (and reputable outlet reporting) galore about new investors. Three of them, we were told. One of whom was the new chairman.
And yet, weeks after that reporting, no new investment at all in the club. At least, not as far as companies house is concerned. Nothing. Not one penny (or cent). No investment from anyone, despite there even being random US sports stars tweeting about how they are now part owners of the club.
Few possibilities - one, there is investment and no one has updated companies house. Could be the case, but it’s a serious oversight not doing this after so long.
Secondly, there is no new investment - something has gone wrong , someone has jumped the gun. It’s on its way but delayed,or it’s not on its way at all. Or maybe, the investment has turned into something else.
Third possibility -the investment isn’t in the club at all but is at Swansea Football LLC level. In which case fine for the majority owners who’ve been trying to get out, less good for the club.
Away from investment, we have the strange ‘is he or isn’t he’ with Winter. Supposedly gone, yet absolutely no announcement from the club about it since that weird post from Coleman.
Coleman is another one - no investment as far as we can see, despite reports (see above), hit the ground running and immediately taking over from Winter, but Winter is still there and since that weird post of his, nothing. Not a word about what’s going on. By all accounts turned tail and run home. Could be on holiday, but picked the wrong job if he expects holidays in June.
Then there’s that bloke from Luton. Is he with us or isn’t he? How does that link with whether or not Marsh is actually with us or not. And Winter. And Coleman.
On top of which, we obviously have the usual shambles with Martin. Read the contract, take legal advice, and then take what we will get.improve the contract drafting for next time so we don’t end up in this mess.
And no communication about any of this. From anyone, including the ‘totally in the loop, standing up for all supporters and acting as a robust challenge to the owners’ Trust.
It’s all completely and utterly bizarre. I realise our owners have been spending their time putting together their share of the money going to sign Messi (what a weird league that is - sport takes a completely back seat to money),but some sort of clarity would be welcome. On any of this.
My only thought is that they are selling up (see the bit about investment changing into something else) and that’s put everything up in the air. Or they’re just being their usual disinterested selves. One possibility bodes rather better for the future than the other. It would be nice to know though.
