What is going to happen between now&end of the season?

What points did third relegation spot teams get in the last few seasons?
I can't see us adding more than 3 points to our current total.
I will take that bet all day long. In this division all games are competitive.
Tough fixtures for sure - but we have the quality to add another 8-10 points

Some doom on here. Realistically the Blades, Norwich and QPR are in the same place as us whilst Norwich are on form the other two are unpredict Charlton are virtually safe and no doubt will be by last game. Boro have not won in their last four. Leicester may already be in the spiral of relegation. Southampton are probably the toughest challenge. Coventry are not nine points ahead for nothing. It's really two from five to go down and given form and position you would worry for Pompey and Leicester.

spot on, Prof

the perennially miz types who always choose to focus on stuff like 'what points for 3rd regulation spot' are either a bit twp, a bit perennially miz and/or most likely not proper jacks who actively support our club

the buzz around the place is massive right now. the online armchairs who are clearly not tuned in to our current reality should stick to tiddlywinks

I agree with LaJollaJack. People who I respect are predicting us to be in the play-offs or higher next season. We have a young squad of players who will improve as they mature and a very good manager, as well as owners who appear to be competent. I'm looking forward to playing Wrexham in the Premier League in 2028.

Walta on loan until the end of the season then a permanent move in the summer with a fee of £2 m
Last 2 seasons 59 appearances 23 goals .

In relation to the heading of the OP.

What will happen is likely what has been happening for the last few months.
We will pick up points but will likely struggle to do so away from home or against teams in the top 10.

I would be very surprised to see Walta start many games or to see 1 or 2 youngsters come in except for the last game of the season.

And to be fair, there is probably no need to change from it all and would give the coaching staff a good insight into the team and individuals.

You do realise that Oxford or Leicester would have to basically win 5 out 7 to vertake us if we get no more points, plus all the other teams being humped right left and centre like Pompey doing similar. And that’s if we don’t get another point. None of those things will happen. We’ll be mid table on around 60 points and the relegated teams will be 50 max, probably fewer than 48.
I can't see us getting anywhere near the 60 points you have mentioned.

Sheffield United(a) 1 point at the best
Middlesbrough(h) 1 point at the best
Leicester(a) 0 points
Southampton(h) 0 points
QPR(a) 1 point at the best
Norwich(a) 0 points
Charlton(h) 1 point at the best

Just imagine if we go into the Charlton game needing a point to stay up with that raving lunatic Nathan Jones on the line. If that became the case just imagine the pressure on the players who have struggled to keep clean sheets at home or away.

@colin

3 clean sheets at home from the last 5 games is good ,

Sheffield United away is tough
Middlesbrough at home I'm looking forward to they don't have the fire power of Coventry more than capable of beating them .
When you see the fixtures lots of teams play each other .
7 games to go
Last 7 games we have 10 points .

We are not out of the woods yet, yes we have a thirteen point lead over Leicester which at this stage of the season is pretty comfortable.

Our home form has kept us at arms length from being right in the mix but looking at our remaining home fixtures there’s certainly no easy games, enough said about our away form.
Other teams have tough games as well and they’ll all take points off each other, I don’t see us picking up more than four points which means it could still be pretty close at the end.

Only 3 keepers have kept more clean sheets than Vig this season.

We’ve conceded some very poor goals during the season, but there seems to be this notion (on here and in the ground) that we don’t keep many clean sheets which isn’t based on what’s actually happened.

Even if your pessimistic outlook of the next 6 games proves correct, then the idea we’d still need anything from the last game on 52-55 points isn’t realistic.

There's no one unbeatable in this Division. There are many inconsistent teams. Pompey and Oxford have tough run ins including playing each other and Leicester (Pompey's is horrendous including Coventry and Boro). Leicester have a few play off and promotion contenders to face too. We will probably win 2 or three, lose 2 or three and Draw one or two. 60-64 points is not unrealistic.

There seems to be a real split between those who think we're still in danger of being relegated (we're not) and those who think we're on the up and guaranteed a playoff spot at least next season (I am unconvinced of this).

As usual, the boring answer is probably the truth. We're a bang average mid-table team who are good enough to beat the majority of teams below us in the table, especially at home, but not good enough to beat most of the sides above us in the table, especially away.
