Martin confirms, hopefully we ain’t flogging him for a poxy 1M, deserves a chance after what he’s shown for Plymouth.

Hopefully to replace Obafemi.

He mentions Morgan fighting for a position we are well stocked on name drop Cundle Ntcham Fulton, also states Winter and Marsh want him back and he’s an asset.

Listening to martins words, there’s no way he has plans for Whittaker to play here. He said himself he’d prefer to stay.

He’s being brought back to be sold.

Strange to mention him alongside players in positions in which he definitely does not play in.

That's the impression I got. He pointedly made the comment about the club thinking of him as an asset.

Ipswich fans seem to think we owe them money for the Downes deal, so they’re thinking they’ll sign Whittaker.

If we are recalling Whittaker just to flog him on then that just sums up exactly where we are going as a club, leave him where he is at the moment, and then look at all options in the summer

If you take out penalties, Whittaker is the 5th highest scorer in League 1 and is 3rd in assists. If he stayed at Plymouth and could continue that form over the course of the season his value would go up a lot more.

There’s a lot of speculation that Ipswich are still owed money, if that’s the case I’d be a little disappointed as Downes was reported to have gone for an 8 figure sum and surely the club could have settled the finance - it could also have afforded Whitaker the opportunity and more time to develop hs game and increase his value.

If we're recalling him to just give to Ipswich to service the Downes debt when we made a 8.5mill profit on him (yes, yes it comes in installments I know) and we could do with Whittaker in our squad now - that is pish poor.

Where is this Ipswich debt being referenced?

Martin has confirmed he is being recalled and in so many words dismissed him in the same sentence.

The mind boggles with this bloke.

Instalments are normal but we must be getting much bigger instalments from West Ham than we owe to Ipswich.

By the Ipswich fans on thier site, just a load of fans speculating we owe them money

It’s most likely the case that we need to raise funds before we can spend funds. If Whittaker services a debt that would otherwise have blocked us spending on a new RB / RWB then so be it.
