Whittaker grew into the game, and may well have been pulled had he not created the chance before HT. Very promising!

The greater worry was that Lowe made little impact when he was handed his chance.

lowe is a lovely footballer but has been hing out to dry by not giving him a rest.

I'll put my neck on line and say if he and whittaker had been rotated over past 15 games we'd be sitting pretty in 2nd now

Remember Brewster made his debut last season in this match which ended 0-0, and many fans wrote that he didn't do much, then the rest is history.

Whittaker did more in this his first match start, than Brewster did, so let's see what happens if he's given a run in the team.

Whittaker needed to be brought in for 15 minutes here and there and given occasional starts.
But Cooper didn’t rate him as he didn’t rate Liam, Gyorkes, Celina etc and only introduced him after running Lowe into the ground.
That said I see Whittaker as a Sam Surridge type player.

He looked lively, full of effort as well. Can see he hasn’t quite got the finishing instinct that someone like Ayew has at this level yet but definitely deserves more playing time than he’s had so far.

BTW thought Whittaker did really well for his first game

Posted before the match that I expected Cooper to stick with Lowe given the pressure; so I was shocked to see him throw him in.

Can only echo what's been said before in that he looked like a rabbit in the headlights for the majority of the first half, but once he had had a few good touches he definitely came out of his shell and looked a hell of a lot more threatening than Lowe has done for the last month or so.

He has to start the next game now and keep building that confidence.

Will he start against Brum? He deseves to and I hope he does but I'm not convinced Cooper will.
