Wales v Mexico at the Cardiff City Stadium.  An international friendly crammed in between two important World Cup qualifiers and another match that has been placed into the middle of a season that has already been shortened due to the extension to last season caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. So managers can get to see how players from different clubs play together, try stuff out and give fringe players hope.

Then downgrade it to International B status then, just for fringe players.

Not an international friendly but a World Cup qualifier, but I have just seen the ROI have lost at home to Luxembourg 1 - 0.

They’re fine normally, but not ideal when there’s a short season and we’re already playing two qualifiers this week.

Tonights game against the 9th best team in the world is a good reason why we need friendlies.

Look how many of our younger players got valuable experience against a good side.

Because UEFA have made friendly dates mandatory. Under Coleman we used to regularly just have camps / meet ups instead but that's not possible anymore.

Potentially a pain, but we've got to try and use them to our advantage. Players like Neco, Cabango, Tyler Roberts, RND, Smith, all got valuable minutes and experience tonight. Hennessey, Moore, J Williams, HRK also got a bit of game time too if they need to be called upon on Tuesday.

The first linked one is correct.

Yes, but did you look at the date - it's 4th April 2019. If you click the pulldown menu in the top right (at least on my laptop) you get a selection of dates. The latest rankings are 18th Feb 2021.
