I have said for many years that football needs some level of shake up to bring the game back down to earth and ensure that its sustainability for many years to come. A global pandemic may have been a bit extreme to get there but will it have the desired changes that are so desperately needed.

Man Utd are now stating that they're unable/unwilling to pay previous level transfers, re. Sancho.

It will be like the housing market - small wobbles but prices soon rise in popular areas.
Once money comes back things will return to normal and clubs wanting the big prizes will always pay big money.
More of a concern will be the FA and EFL's position on players from EU countries. If EU nationals become 3rd country players, as they should, restrictions will hit a lot of clubs and push up the price of less than average 'home' talent. Even more reason to keep the academy at the highest level possible (affordable).

It will return to normality, quicker than most will imagine.

Money makes people greedy and there is enough money in football to bring the greed back quicker than most other sections struggling with the current climate.

The way things are going, especially with a second wave imminent, we could be seeing the beginning of the end for lots of clubs, sadly we could be one of those.

I think we'd be OK. All clubs would be affected so standards would, by and large, fall at a similar rate everywhere meaning our academy and cheaper players would become the main squad until things improve. hey are a decent group and should keep us in league football.
The Majority Shareholder may cut and run but IMO they would tough it out - they have shown they aren't 'fly by nights' and have been financially prudent.
If matches continue to be televised on the bass they have since lock down then I would see a reasonable income covering he cost of essential staff but, unfortunately many jobs would be lost.

There are going to be lots of clubs in trouble, one or two could go but I can't see lots of clubs going bust.
If we are in trouble after cutting costs left, right and centre thrown in with the transfer fees we have taken in recent years along with parachute payments.....There will be some serious questions needed answering.

But yes, clubs are going to be in trouble as long as this virus restricts fans attendance.

You've only got to look at Ux/ECB's posts on twitter before the play off loss to Brentford, to know those serious questions you're on about, will need answering. We are not in a good place at all.

Don't really do twitter, they asking the same questions?
Personally I think Rodon is gone and it's just a case of getting the best deal for all involved.... There was no way Rodon was going to play as he is our most saleable asset!

Its going to be interesting Risc and it might just bring us onto a level playing field a bit more on a flip side 😬

In 2013 just after the signing of Bony for £12 million, Huw Jenkins was quoted as saying words to the effect of Swans fans need to recognise that this amount was way beyond our comfort zone, and we should not expect signings of this amount as being the norm.

Just a few short years later we had spent many millions more for players who flopped in the PL. A mirror of so many other PL teams from recent times. The cost to the club will stay with us for years to come.

The Covid 19 Pandemic has caused huge financial damage to football, will football learn and reign in the spending?

The obscene amounts available to those in the PL means it is unlikely, and many clubs will gamble with their very existence to reach the promised land whilst their fans pay ever increasing amounts to sit in the stand hoping for a point against a bottom half of the table opponent.

The effect on clubs below the top 6 is bound to result in the demise of some, we need to make sure that the Swans is not one of the casualties.

Get rid of FFP

Can't think of another sport that stops money coming into it

It hasn't made things better, the same old clubs dominate

If a billionaire wants to chuck his money away let him

A dumb platini rule that's actually harmed small clubs

Correct. Unfortunately time has shown us that he had more faces than Big Ben.

Get rid of the transfer window too. The rich clubs are the only ones who benefit with the smaller clubs either being squeezed or having to pay over the odds.
