As the Swans fans were made to suffer a pretty weak capitulation to Blackburn at the weekend many eyes turned to the directors box where the presence of Chief Executive Julian Winter and Jake Silverstein were watching arguably the worst performance under Russell Martin. 71% possession and 600+ successful...

All this stuff about needing players - we have players for these positions but Martin will not play them. The owners would be nuts to give him money.

There's a fair chance that some might play at Oxford, but proving yourself in an unsettled side is very difficult.
Everyone needs game time even if that is 15 mins as a sub for a run of games.

They must be very poor in training, or coaching blindness

Ogbeta has to start against Oxford and if there is any hint of form then he also has to start against Blackpool. Square pegs in round holes is not working.

We can shout n scream pal....but ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

It's a very good article.

The dynamic between RM and JS should be quite illuminating. Firstly, that RM actually has a direct line overseas, and so regularly. He's their man, and they won't ditch their man unless it gets properly terminal.

How the budget has and is being used is my fundamental issue. We're spending more on wages than we bring in, and relying on trading profits to fill the hole. All well and good, if you can do what we did with Downes every time, but to actually overhaul the squad requires enough to fill the hole AND pay to do that. That's a far bigger amount than the market looks capable of providing this year.

Plus, there hasn't been a lot of joined up thinking going on. We committed Fulton to a big money contract knowing Cooper was going. We signed Bennett to a long-term deal, even though it was entirely likely he'd be unfit for purpose if looking to play a different way. The last window was just weird, and you wonder how true the Allen rumours are, but even then if you recall the management team were clearly unhappy as they'd lined up signings only for the owners to pull the plug. Downes and Piroe signings aside, it's not been stellar.

The loans also munched up the parachute payments, for zero gain ultimately. The Brentford final was shit or bust for us, and we surrendered to them with hardly a whimper. Woodman was a dud, as proved by his subsequent 'career' and his ridiculous nonsense in the play off final, we developed Guehi and Brewster for their clubs to get big fees, wasted Gallagher, and as for Hourihane...

None of that comes cheap. Neither did Wolf (seriously weird) or those useless whangs Burns and Williams. Quite the comedy duo.

At least Ayew nearly pulled us through for his ridiculous wedge.

To negotiate the rent on the Trust pod....

Better not, they bought it outright in 2021!

Yeah but it’s not too late for them to renegotiate on that and give it away to the owners for nothing

Not gonna happen, they intend to remain patient and stick with him or in lay mans terms they ain't got a pot to piss in to pay him off.
