Wrexham's turnover is already higher than most Championship clubs, and that's without the increase in both sponsorship income and TV money they will receive just for promotion. They will be amongst the wealthiest clubs in the division next season without going anywhere near PSR issues.

Not to mention that some players will like the idea of being in the documentary and rubbing shoulders with the owners. The likes of Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin are finished in the Wrexham team, but their post-football career earning potential will no doubt have had a huge boost now that they're pretty famous (for lower-league footballers). Not to mention that footballers are hardly known for having modest egos, so the fame factor will again be attractive for some.

Add in the geographical location of being close to Liverpool and Manchester (a player with enough money could even live in Cheshire's 'Golden Triangle' and commute to Wrexham) and the amount of money Wrexham will have to spend, it all means I hope we don't go up against them for any players we want.

Wrexham are in a position to spend 40m plus on transfers this summer.

Accounts for League 2 season show 25m turnover up from 12m the previous year. You can bet the turnover for league 1 this season is higher so maybe 30m

Add 8m for Championship TV revenues

Add at least another 5m in sponsorship deals because of all the televised games in the championship will attract more and higher paying advertisers.

They will be on close to 45m revenue next season. Twice ours.


Now consider they are a) Debt Free and b) Pretty much in break even mode.
So without even incurring a loss they will have close to an extra 20m a season in pocket money.


That effectively means they can spend 60m on transfers given payment of transfer fees are spread over 3 years and they will still be close to break even mode

1st year under PSR rules so they could spend way more than that resulting in a 14m loss which equates to an extra 40m in transfers if they chose to do it


With that spending power they should easily be in the play offs.

The biggest club in Wales could very soon be Wrexham and only 2 years and 2 months ago they were in the National League

Watched some of their game against Lincoln. The standard in that league is a lot lower than the championship so they will have to go out and get almost a new team in.

Lets put it this way. 5m gets you a top quality Championship player. Any player worth more than 5m is going to be snapped up by Premiere League teams.

So they will be able to buy the best available this summer. If thats 11 players at an avg of 4m they can do it. And still not make much of a loss.

I agree. But what a position to be in that you can do it if you want and still break even pretty much

It is a massive step up to the Championship - and it is relentless week in and week out.
I don't think they will struggle - but I don't see their march forward continuing at the same pace.
Would take a bet with anyone that we finish above them next year.

Luton have just got relegated with the enormous parachute payments with a bunch of premier league players. They are walking in to a league where there is far more quality and depth throughout and everyone will want to beat Disney united, including us. The next 8 weeks will give us a massive clue on how Wrexham are going to play their hand.

They finished 16th (Portsmouth), 17th (Oxford), 19th (Derby). Of course one of the promoted teams from the previous season went straight up to the PL in Ipswich.

It would be a surprise if Wrexham were promoted again, but I don't think they'll find the step up that hard (I'm sure Cardiff fans were saying the same about us under Martinez all those years ago) and they'll finish in or around the playoff spots if I had to guess.

I'd be delighted if we finish above them, as I believe that will mean we've had a fine season.
