NFL 2024

The 49ers game is huge and for this reason it will be tougher than it perhaps is on paper.

The road trip sounds great. Have been to Boston a few times for work and only once socially; trying to get my Mrs to agree to a fall trip in October half term, but she’s distinctly uninterested. Niagara on the Lake is also a nice stop for lunch if you’re in the vicinity.
All the storylines are in place to make an incredible America's game episode. Best defender is injured most of the season to produce a career defining Superbowl return. Jahmyr Gibbs carries the running duties until Montgomery returns in the first playoff game. The Lions make their way through the injuries to make it to the Superbowl and get revenge on the Bills.

On the other hand it could make a great Missing Rings episode, all the above happens for the Chiefs to win on a returned Mahomes interception that gets fumbled!!

Am I right in thinking that tonight’s game is fairly meaningless in terms of seedlings and that next week MIN @ DET is winner takes all and the #1 seeding?

Pretty much, yes. The only impact of tonight’s game is that a win for DET means they will go into the game next Sunday with an identical record (14-2) and, given they beat the Vikings in their earlier meeting, would win the tiebreaker if the game is tied.

Set up to be an amazing game. Big difference between winning and losing - if you win you get a first round bye and home advantage all the way to the SB. Loser heads to a wildcard road game as 5th seed.

The quirks of how these seeding work…

8-0 on the road takes some doing. Outstanding from DET.

As a Wycombe fan during the time John Gorman was in charge our philosophy seemed to be you can score 3 and we'll score 4. That's what this Lions team has to do at the minute with the injuries and weaknesses in the defence. But they are doing it brilliantly. The offense is super-powered and if we can just get the right defensive tools back, Anzalone and Rodriguez especially, they'll show strong in the playoffs. A win on Monday would give a good break to get some back.

Trust the Titans to have the no 1 pick in a weak draft year; can’t even tank right.

DET take #1 seeding in the NFC, that is quite astonishing.

I think you will find that its the The Patriots are the team that cant tank right. They were holding the No 1 pick going into yesterdays game.
I watched the game open mouthed, like a car crash in slow motion.
"They surely arent going to win this?"
The Bills should be ashamed of themselves but they put on a clinic in how to lose a game. They ensured Travis Hunter isnt a problem for them for years to come. They are already worried about Drake Maye.

I didn’t see any coverage. The the Bills bench the big guns?

I woke this morning at 03:10 and realised the game may still be going. It was 10-6 Detroit at that point about halfway through the third quarter. I was shocked it was such a low score.

From my limited eye, we stonked the rest of the game and just overpowered them mainly through Jahmyr Gibbs. Having Anzalone back at linebacker helped and Aaron Glenn had obviously pulled up a tight gameplan for the defence. Chuffed with the result. Quite shocking that the 14-3 Vikings now come in seeded 5 and travel to the Rams in the wildcard round. Shows how strong the NFC North has been.

Josh Allen played 1 snap. Their D was sitting on deckchairs. I cant find a link to any videos but the amount of time Joe Milton( A rookie making his first start was given) was laughable. Both his thrown Tds were comical.(Apparantly one was called back so he only threw one)

Ford Field was banging last night.

The greatest sporting arena I have ever stepped foot in.

Do you know much about getting tickets for the games there? If the fixttures fall correctly I'm hoping to go on 28th September (Depending on fixtures!) I'm trying to work out a rough cost now but obviously there's no real way of knowing without having been before. And I find US sports tickets seem to vary so massively. When we were in NY minimum I would have paid for the Rangers was $100, but the Islanders was $40!

StubHub is where I got my tickets when I went to Gillette.(20 yrs since)I think they still exist. $50 a piece so reasonable even though it was the season opener after a Superbowl victory(2004 vs Indy)
