I’ve been critical of him, and still am (he should never be in the starting 11) but he is playing in a poor side, and low on confidence and direction. I wouldn’t perform to my best if I was shipped out to South Korea to a failing company.
And working for the delivery driver.

Eom is another player who has regressed over the course of the season under Williams.

When he first came here he might not have had end product but his driving runs from the touchline to the corner of the opposing box and how hard he was to shift off the ball were real features of his. Now he looks like he couldn't trap a bag of cement and never tries to take his man on, all of his forward attacking ambition and confidence has been drained out of him.

Eom is desperate for a goal or an assist, he has hit the woodwork three times and missed a number of opportunities that a player who had more confidence / less pressure to produce would have put away with ease.

Even his chance that was set up against Bristol he just didn't realise / didn't have the confidence to take a touch rather than smashing O'Brien's cross first time. It had been set up for him on a silver platter and he had the time easily to take a touch and just direct it to one of the corners.

It's hard to judge players in a crap team. Are they crap because they're crap players? Are they crap because of the manager? Are they playing crap because so many of their teammates are crap and would actually play quite well in a better team?

As an example, Scott McTominay looked like a bang average midfielder with Man United, who were mostly pretty bad while he was there. He's now playing brilliantly for Napoli by all accounts and they're top of Serie A. Mega flop Antony has scored 2 in his first 3 games for Real Betis.

Been a new player under Sheehan. Actively looking forward to seeing him today, and I can't see I was feeling that way even six week ago.

For all the uncertainty around Sheehan, he has unlocked new players in Eom and Vipotnik. Helped for sure by having O'Brien behind, but both of them have looked so exciting recently

Has come on really well. He has worked on his physicality. I still feel he needs to improve in this area as he is muscled out sometimes. But first season in championship, he has come on well. VP as well. His hold up play is overlooked by many. I strongly beleive with time and right coaching he will be a star

If I’m honest, I’ve been more aligned with the group who thought he was going to be a transfer bust than the group who thought he would always come good. Looked like this was too big of a step for him for long periods.

He always looked like he was playing within himself and hesitating to go with his instincts. A player like Ronald, love him or hate him, didn’t have that problem, he was showing us what he is from day one - good and bad. Eom always seemed to be holding back, but he’s come out of his shell a lot more recently and he’s growing in confidence - I’ve seen some really encouraging things from him lately, he’s really impacting games in ways he wasn’t in the first half of the season. Let’s hope it continues and there’s more to come from him.

That screamer against Middlesboro got the monkey off his back and he hasn't looked back since.

He had missed a few sitters and hit the woodwork on a number of occasions this season and it seemed like it was getting to him. Ever since that Boro goal he seems to have lost most of his anxiety and is better willing to take players on and either go outside and dink in a cross or cut inside and try a curler with his right.

He has 2 goals and 2 assists so far this season, and 3 of those have come in the last six games. There is no coincidence there, neither has how his increased freedom to play how he wants to play coincided with Williams leaving the club.

In one of this interviews recently, Key mentioned that not just himself, but the whole team were dealing with mental strain that affected their play - you can come up with all kinds of theories as to the causes of that, but the difference since Williams left has been very noticeable. A follow-on comment from Key was that Sheehan has been focusing on getting them to play 'transitional football' which I took to mean more ready to break fast and quickly when the opportunity is there rather than a more cautious possession/control approach. It seems to have been like removing mental shackles for a lot of players, including Eom.

If you were to replace Preston with Middlesbrough, I would agree with you:)

Anyone forming any kind of definitive opinion about any of our attacking players, but most especially the wingers, based purely on the way Williams wanted them to play was jumping the gun.
Funny thing, Williams had the idea of Bianchini as striker because, Bianchini showed he was alright up front. Williams admitted he didn't think of it and started playing him up front, crazy stuff. I would like Ronald rested maybe for a game to see what Bianchini has or maybe have Eom at number 10, VPN up front and Ronald on width.

Eom is starting to show his worth. Wait until next season; I think you'll be looking at potentially our next big-money cash cow. 👌
If he grows into a saleable asset, the very fact that he is South Korean is also a significant financial factor.

Koreans love idols, be they K-Pop, movie or sports it doesn't matter. The financial benefits for a club who's South Korean player who reaches the top is significant
