It may surprise some of you that I suggest this, but what about Sam Dalby of Wrexham? Was offered a contract extension in January but turned it down and now available on a free. Scored 15 goals in the SPL on loan with Dundee United.
Those who are triggered by stats please skip the following.
3 penalties in those 15 goals, but still a very good return from 34 matches. His defensive stats are quite superb. 307 duels won, best in league for a striker. As are his 244 aerial duels won. Clearly formidable in the air. Above average on 9 out of 12 defensive metrics.
Also the best in the league for touches and one of the best for touches in the opposition box. 31 chances created, which is nearly best in league. Only negative is his pass accuracy of just 59.2 per cent. Bizarrely his long ball accuracy of 63.2 per cent is better.
Dalby's attributes best fit a long ball side, but perhaps he would fit Sheehanball pretty well, especially with his defensive strengths. We have excellent crossers in Eom and Tymon. Dalby would certainly be able to exploit quality head high deliveries, which only Darling has been able to take advantage of consistently last season.
