I think you’re right that it’s best for Liam that he plays in that number 10 role, but I’m not convinced it’s best for the team. He’s not a great creator and turns over possession too easily if we try and break quickly through him. Some of the times he gave away possession easily on the half way line last year ended up in the back of our net within 10 seconds.
But he can score, which is a huge plus. I’ve always thought he’s a poacher type who needs to play as a striker next to a big number 9. Unfortunately most teams at our level stopped playing 2 up front that way over 20 years ago!
