I have some mates and family who live around there Darren and I'm in a few of the local groups and it's absolutely ridiculous.
The scale of these fires is incredible. The council has been pretty much useless, telling the local residents to report each and every occurrence, as if it's not bleeding obvious when fires this size are starting up from the same two sites within a mile of each other.
The council have had meetings apparently and gone to visit the sites but either they're powerless to stop it or aren't interested. Not being cynical but I'm sure if you or I were burning rubbish in our gardens, they'd soon be out dishing out fines.
The travellers apparently do this several times a week if not more. At one point it was literally every single night and during the day as kids played in gardens and parks etc.
They're burning plastic off cables to get to the copper and rubbish that they are apparently collecting from all over the UK and bringing it here to burn in the vicinity of a nature reserve, 1000s of homes, schools, Morriston Hospital etc.
Depending on wind direction, the smell travels up towards Llangyfelach, Cwmrhydyceirw, Birchgrove etc. Christ knows whats in that air..as they say, if you can smell it, it means you're breathing it in.
To make matters worse, these lovely people are threatening members of the community who dare express their concerns online.
I spoke to one of my mates about this earlier and the residents are delighted this has finally got some media attention. They're hoping this publicity will now push the council into action.
They're scum.
