I have some mates and family who live around there Darren and I'm in a few of the local groups and it's absolutely ridiculous.

The scale of these fires is incredible. The council has been pretty much useless, telling the local residents to report each and every occurrence, as if it's not bleeding obvious when fires this size are starting up from the same two sites within a mile of each other.

The council have had meetings apparently and gone to visit the sites but either they're powerless to stop it or aren't interested. Not being cynical but I'm sure if you or I were burning rubbish in our gardens, they'd soon be out dishing out fines.

The travellers apparently do this several times a week if not more. At one point it was literally every single night and during the day as kids played in gardens and parks etc.

They're burning plastic off cables to get to the copper and rubbish that they are apparently collecting from all over the UK and bringing it here to burn in the vicinity of a nature reserve, 1000s of homes, schools, Morriston Hospital etc.

Depending on wind direction, the smell travels up towards Llangyfelach, Cwmrhydyceirw, Birchgrove etc. Christ knows whats in that air..as they say, if you can smell it, it means you're breathing it in.

To make matters worse, these lovely people are threatening members of the community who dare express their concerns online.

I spoke to one of my mates about this earlier and the residents are delighted this has finally got some media attention. They're hoping this publicity will now push the council into action.

They're scum.

Correct me if I am wrong, I was told that the burning of black plastic cable issue, has been a major problem since at least 2013, because that was the very year that I was told about it by a 'senior' Swansea City Councilor during the consultation process for a 'super-site' to house the three Swansea traveller family clans.

So this has been going on for at least twelve and a half years. Which is? Absolutely staggering to contemplate.

And here is my prediction i.e. if there is a clean-up, it'll be entirely funded by Swansea taxpayers money.

And to think the likes of Labour's Julie Morgan the cloud-cuckoo land IDIOT and parallel universe lefty-loon wants MORE traveller sites in someone else's community. You know the type i.e. she's one of the "say it loud, say it clear everyone is welcome here" outsider-mentality types so stereotypical nowadays. Great to have em in someone else's backyard hey!!!!

Theres been a camp in Briton Ferry for a number of years now and one of the biggest problems I always find is that some prick always and I mean always sticks up for the dirty stinking twats.

May I recall the event involving traveller supporting "Meic" i.e. the pinko-sandal-wearing-Welsh Nationalist IDIOT, who wrote into SWEP to maliciously blame, smear and accuse local builders of dumping tons of dug up driveway rubble and left-over tarmac upon a local area.

This was despite the fact that the dumping was witnessed by the (sadly, since passed away) chairperson-woman of first (now reestablished) 'Friends of Melin Mynach Parc' association, along with many park ramblers and dog walkers. Add to that further undeniable evidence/proof that showed tyre tracks leading from dumped waste directly to travellers stationary parked white flatbed trucks.

"Meic" resorted to further make believe by telling a fictitious made up story about a young mother with pram and child being unable to access the park, because Swansea City Council had, at the time blocked her by placing boulders to stop people from entering and exiting the park.

This was another lie, because there was at that time no boulders in the very area that he mentioned/specified, thus further proving the tendency of pinko-sandal-wearing idiots to resort to lies, smearing and gutter tactics.

It also proved the fact that "Meic" had never ever visited the park himself. It truly beggars belief that these very types exist!!!!

The "race card" has been played on numerous occasions already.

As far as I'm concerned, they can live on a campsite in their caravans, do whatever it is that do, don't bother sending their kids to school.. whatever. Each to their own. Ultimately in the same way I don't care what my next door neighbours do in their own home as long as it's not negatively impacting me

However as soon as their behaviour starts impacting other people, then those impacted have a right to complain. Race (leaving aside any arguments about whether they're a race) doesn't come into it.

Council have already earmarked £115k towards expanding their site and paying for toilet and shower blocks for them.

Absolutely unbelievable

The problem is there is so frequently impact, far more caused than asylum seekers who so readily cause the frothing at the mouth for so many. Whether that's rubbish, damage, anti-social behaviour or petty thievery they make life difficult. There's a lot around here (North Somerset) and far from popular with locals. As you say they can lead their own life, but not at the expense of the rest of us.

The story about the 2013 consultation was and still is pure black-comedy at times!

Concerned residents in shortlisted area's were branded racist, because they did not want travellers living next to them, BUT a senior Swansea City Councilor informed me that the three separate traveller clan/families did NOT want to share the proposed super-site site. BECAUSE they themselves did NOT want other travellers as neighbours themselves also. So who exactly are the racists now?

Then there was the idiot 'outsider' who phoned Swansea Sound to label protestors as racist, only to fall into his own trap by being ambushed and asked his opinion about the superb "hard-standing potential" of an area in his own postcode.

The guy then went all "no comment" and "it's NOT for me to say" when he was champing at the bit to say things about area's outside of his NIMBY postcode. LOL!!!

I am pretty much left wing and have little issue with controlled immigration. I have three Afghan families living opposite as part of resettlement schemes and that's fine. I work in Africa and Asia and my world view is people are people. But if a certain group are demonstrably problematic (whether Irish travellers, black British, white asbo specialists or whoever) to the wider community then there should be the capacity to control that activity for all residents. It's not about race it is about the anti-social and criminal activity,

It's been off and on for a while but more recently it's literally every single day.

In the photos Darren posted, they've been burning stuff like Freezers, Furniture, Mattresses - god knows what shit is in that stuff being released into the atmosphere.

If you go a mile away from that site as the crow flies and make a circle, you have about 6 primary schools, loads of housing estates, shops, the centre of Morriston, parks, nature trails, Morriston Hospital.

They've also dumped loads of the waste in the river that runs behind their site.

Mental at a time where if you accidentally put the wrong sort of cardboard in your recycling they refuse to take it and put a passive aggressive sticker on there.

It's nasty, because dioxins are being released into the atmosphere!!! I wouldn't fancy eating apples from the tree if I was living in close proximity.

The residents have been making this point repeatedly for the last few months. No support from anyone in authority though.

These people get elected and only want to deal with the good news stories or the sexy ones. Don't want to tough it out for their constituents when something like this happens.
