Personally I would like to see someone externally, someone with a pull or experience in the role given our total shift in the last 6 months.

I think so.
He was the man who got the deals done. Ok, he wasn't the man who found the players but he was the one who got the deals done and that's the hardest part in the conveyer belt imo.

It doesn't seem to be anyone coming into the role externally so it's either someone within the club that believes or someone else believes can do the job OR they are going to run with no replacement.

It's going to be some movement internally and it's suggested that we won't be giving a title of DOF to anyone......as it stands.

My understanding was that it was a combination of both Montague and Gorringe who did the legwork to get deals done. Our summer transfer work would not have gone unnoticed, both in the quality of the players we have brought in and the scale of the squad overhaul that we had done so its not unusual for it to be picked up on by those higher up the food chain.

Montague wasn't on recruitment, and it seems like Gorringe was the man getting the deals done, so what was Montague's role here?

If someone isn't pulling their weight they get found out I guess. I'm not having the notion he's been poached either. The whole Montague Love In was crazy.

Wrote that before I read that it's likely to be someone internal.
Doesn't look like he is going to another team so would suggest that someone(be it him or someone else) isn't happy.

That wouldn't be on him, I would suspect that would fall on Gorringe as COE?
Not 100% sure on that but if it were the case(I doubt it though) then a few heads would roll.

I don't think it would be down to that, FFP would have been thorough and would have been looked at on a regular basis as the recruitment rolled on.

So what did Montagues role actually entail then? The owners are the ones doing the high level networking, Worth is the scouting lead, Gorringe I thought was more commercial - merchandise and terrace etc.
