"this decision is exceptional and shall not be seen as setting a precedent".

Said while setting a very clear precedent.

Floodgates are now opened. I give it no more than 5 years before a Premier League game is played somewhere like China or Malaysia.

Pure greed. Plain and simple.

I can just picture us getting promoted again and getting Man Utd at home on opening day, only to find out it's being played in Beijing or something..

Was always going to happen (sadly) once the American sports started playing in Europe. Interesting times ahead to see how it develops over the next 5-10 years.

if it dos take off, it will IMO start the decline here of the success the PL has had for the last 30 odd years, fans wont like it, and the money people will.

Maybe a good thing for EFL clubs if prem fans start watching and supporting their local team instead.

Don't like the idea myself, but it certainly hasn't affected the NFL back in the states by bringing games to the UK.

What do NFL fans think of having one of their eight home games being played in Europe? When you only get 8 games on your season ticket it's a big thing to lose one.

well, its becoming clear the states is in a bit of a state, dont think it"ll go down too well in Townhill, Splott, Peckham, geordieland or prts of Manc and liverpool.

I don't know where I saw it mentioned (apologies if it was someone on here), but the PL isn't that far from having a majority of American owners. There are also plenty of clubs owned by Americans who have ambitions of making it to the PL. There could be some major changes in the future if that comes to pass.

Some clubs obviously want a Super League/franchise system where they play each other all round the world.

They want their cake and eat it though by also playing in a domestic league. Personally, I’d have no issues if 4/6, or however, many Premier league clubs signed up to that but I’d also boot them out of the English competitions so the rest of the clubs can just get on with it. Not as if there’s a shortage of clubs wanting to be in the ‘92’

I agree with this.

You're either both feet in, or you're not, in which case piss off and play Real Madrid and everyone 4 times a year in your silly little franchise league.

I don't think the PL would have the guts to do it though. Their TV deals would collapse.
