I'm ignoring the obvious elephant in the room which is his perceived inexperience.

On paper looking at the way he wants to play football, I am more excited about having Matos in the dugout than I was with the Swede.

You'd hope that working for 5 years with Klopp he's learned quite a bit.

That's my thinking. Realistically we are not gonna attract managers now who have a lot of potential until we are in a stronger position. We have 0 clue if this happens, will it work, but I do hope we are not just clutching at things and only going in for him as he is cheaper and only really one that fits us.

Very True. We might be suprised. Who knows. Let's hope its not a desperation signing. And he proves us all wrong. It's been a while since we have had a manager who has really come in with a strong following, so no issue if he shows a side to our team we didn't see under Sheehan.

I have no idea about who this Matos is and what he is about.
I do however have more faith in our board than I have had for a very long time.
Listened to the podcast with Gorringe and he came across very well to me. That coupled with the summer transfer window, and everything else that has gone on since they came in, I feel we are in safe hands.

They had to give the gig to Sheehan and if they choose this guy, I will support him until or if he turns out shit.

I’m hoping that the board know more about football than fans that post, and this is not a dig at our fans. We have a right to be concerned as we have pretty much been getting fucked over since Dug Sharp.

Why would the Board, who are almost exclusively American businessmen, know more about football than fans who have followed the game for decades?

He doesn’t have perceived inexperience. He has actual inexperience.

People seem to be talking about him as though he was Klopp’s right hand man.

He was a development coach at Liverpool. He’s worked almost exclusively with age group football until very recently.

If they appoint him I’m sure we will hope for the best and be fully supportive but to say it’s a gamble is a massive understatement. It’s verging on the club buying a raffle ticket. Could win but far more likely to be a waste of money.

Definitely a risk, I did enjoy watching a Klopp team over a Pep team, any day of the week.

If he can bring that heavy metal style of football to the stadium it's a huge yes from me.

I don’t think fans know as much as they think they do to be honest. That’s not to say they know nothing but due diligence has clearly been done on Matos.

In fairness, Steve Cooper had only ever worked in age group football too and not even at club level.

I hated Cooperball but he was successful and knew what he was doing
